|
because i'm incapable of making my own decisions, I was wondering what talent tab I should spend most of my points in as a paladin...I have a bunch in each tab but the way it looks, i'm not going to have enough in any tab for any high end talent skills.

I am 38 and maxed out:
Protection:
Improved Devotion Aura
Redoubt
Toughness
Holy:
Spiritual Focus
Improved Holy Light
Illumination
Divine Favor
A friend of mine made what he said to be the best paladin build for his style (I think he tried to make the best one for holding aggro). In that case he focused mostly on Holy.

get the improved healing one at tier 1 holy
then retribution, the rest are all worthless, except maybe 10 pts. into protection to get toughness.

For levelling (soloing) put 11 points into holy. This is a must:
Imp. Holy Light 3/3
Spiritual Focus 2/5
Illumination 5/5
Divine Favor 1/1
From there if you find yourself maxed elsewhere and want to fill in some odds and ends, grabbing Imp. Flash of Light and finishing up Spiritual Focus.
Protection is a line I don't care to spec in until I hit 60 and know what role I'll be playing in the end. The lot of it will only hinder my ability to solo.
Retribution has a vast array of great talents. I'll be getting Blessing of Kings and maxing a few other various talents (31+ points in the tree pre-60)
Imp. Blessing of Might and Imp. Seal of Crusader are very nice for soloing. You'll want Vengeance to be able to access Conviction. You'll want Deflection as well. Seal of Command used to be essential, but I advise nabbing other skills instead. If you're to be your guild/grind party's Retribution Paladin, you'll probably need that (eventually) to spec up your Retribution Aura. Anticipation is the only talent in Retribution that seems utterly worthless.
And as far as stats go, go all Sta/Int (Eagle). More HP, more heals, critical heals occur more often (on top of the fact you have a guaranteed Crit. Heal every 2 minutes). Agility isn't bad, but it's not necessarily a stat you ought to be looking for; digressing: more melee crits equate to 115% damage dealing (5/5 Vengeance), and with ~10% crit rate + Seal of Crusader, you'll be seeing some fairly passable damage with a heavy-hitting 2h.

No, I don't believe it affects Atk/AC. It certainly doesn't effect your Defense skill.
I've yet to get it, so I haven't had the pleasure to test it out yet. I'm assuming it will be buffing your base statistic (i.e. you have 100 total Stamina, 50 base and 50 from gear, it might just affect that base stat, not the whole of it).
Like I said, I don't have it just yet, so baring in mind I don't want to ever go to the WoW boards and look for an answer, I'll just wait to find out.

It does indirectly increase your Atk/AC... +str = +atk, +agi = +AC.
It's a pretty lame buff but I guess it is all purpose so that you can give it to everyone on a raid or in a party without having to think too hard.

OBviously you dont know how to play your pallys. I am a 60 and I KNOW that protection is the best, whoever said holy is the best for keeping agro, you dont know what your talking about, and true ret does alot of damage soloing, but not overall and you die much faster, and much more.

defense: for one thing you should know the armor goes up AT LEAST 10% because of tougness, and thats without the improved dev aura that does plus 40% to your normal dev aura. And protection also gives you plus 50 % to your rightous fury so thats 50% beter agro holding. By specing protection your divin sheild cooldown is decreased by a minuet, and there is no atack speed penalty when you use it. your blessing of freedom is increased by 6 seconds and bop cooldown decreased by 2 minuets.. wich means almost every minuet you could switch between bubles. With the new patch 5% of your armor goes against all spells. 30 % chance spells will be dispeled, 10% improved stun and fear ect resistence and a 5% increase to ALL aura stats, you also gain a 30% more damage blocked with sheilds for specing prot. AND YES BLESSING OF KINGS INCREASES YOUR STATS AS THEY ARE AND NO ITS NOT A BAD BUFF. say you have 100 in all your stats .. ex: 100 str. all your stats will be increased by 10, so thats 110 str 110 stamina 110 intalect ect.. with that your health goes up a great deal, as well as your mana, your atack power is half as good as blesing of might, more blocked with sheild, faster atack speed ect. your chance to hit is increased by 3% and anticipation increases your defense skill by 20 , and this has saved me many times: when you are below 20 % hp, damage taken is decreased by 50% ON TOP OF all your armor defense, so you do the math . not to mention the extra stats you get for having a sheild .THIS IS JUST FOR DEFENSE.
OFFENSE : BLESING OF sanctuary reduces damage by 80, if you dont think thats alot then picture 5 people on you hiting you one time, say they all hit you for 100, in totalk they all just did 100 damage because you just resisted 400 damage with a blessing.. it also does 55 holy damage if you block with it on, + 188 holy damage with holy sheild+ 20 with ret aura, thats almost 260 damage every time you block an attack!! and you also have a 10 % chance to do double damage when you get hit!! your 1h damage is also increased by 10% and skill with all weapons by 10.
not to mention the avengers sheild that does 650 damage to 3 targets and dazes them and only has a 30 second cooldown.. add concecration to the mix and your dps is off the charts :S
If you still dont agree with me take a retribution pally or holy against a protection pally and hit him 5 times, thats 1k damage , and he hasnt hit you yet........ ouch[/b]

Especially when you are solo.
Then Holy, so you wouldn't let down your role as a paladin.
