At the moment:
Souls in the Great Machine, Sean McMullen. Science fiction, fairly cool Canticle for Liebowiz-ish future society where they're learning to make computers using thousands of people as primitive logic components because the EMP satellites are still in orbit destroying any electromagnetic devices they sense.
The Third Witch, by Rebecca Reisert. Macbeth, told from the point of view of one of the the witches.
Next:
The Nautical Chart, by Arturo Perez-Reverte. I realized when I saw it that two of the better books I'd read recently (the Flanders Panel, the Fencing Master) were also by him, although I hadn't ever realized they were by the same auther

I have really enjoyed the books. They aren't mindbending or anything like that just a nice easy read with several different storylines.

A Stitch in Time by Andrew Robinson
It's the story of Garak and Cardassia and it's actually really good!

Right now I'm reading "Fast Food Nation" by Eric Schlosser. It's an in depth look at the fast food industry and all of it's lies as well as the disgusting food practices they use.

That sounds like a good book, Pam. If our public school system was worth a damn, they would have us read a few books like that instead of The Red Badge of Courage. It's a shame, but alot of big money keeps the truth nicely tucked away.

It's been a great book so far Akronn, makes me even happier I stay out of the fast food joints as much as I do. I also agree that it would be great to feature books like this along with accepted literature in schools.

I just finished "Focault's Pendulum" byUmberto Eco. It is an interesting book, the ending kinda sucked. Next I am off to read "American Gods" by Neil Gaiman, I hear it's good.

Recently finished:
The Dawning of a New Age
The Day of the Tempest
Currently reading:
Darkness & Light
then I'm gonna read:
Kendermore
Brothers Majere
Flint the King
Tanis the Shadow Years
and then hopefully find Dragons of Summer Flame somewhere.
so uh yeah, catching up on my Dragonlance
Edit: btw they are all fantasy stories, if you are gonna read dragonlance I recommend you read these preludes even though I left them til last and read all my stuff in the wrong order. They're by different authors but all in the same world as far as I can tell!

No, school kids don't need to be reading an expose on fast food. Everybody in the world knows that fast food is bad for you. Do you think teenagers care? The Red Badge of Courage is exactly what school kids should be reading.
As for what I'm reading, EQ has really cut into my reading time :/ I only read now when I go on vaction or travel for work.

I mostly read during class when I have a teacher that dosent give me shit for it, those 2.5 hour math classes can get really boring without a good book or a nap. But has any one read the most recent book by Robert Jorden? I have almost given up on him :\

Most teenagers would care if they actually believed what they hear about fastfood joints. It's all written off as urban legend, when in fact, much of it is not.
And I don't even remember what happend in Red Badge, it was that good.

You should have given up sooner. Books 7 and 8 were pure crap, and I haven't read 9 and 10 but from what I hear it's more of the same. Stop giving your money to this loser.

Hmm....guess I should've asked for some of the authors' names or at least short summaries of books LOL
Some of the titles sound great but without genre or synopsis, hard to decide if I'd be interested in adding to the pile here...

Zelazny is a fantasy/sci fi author, one of my favorites, the book of short stories im reading by him is called some thing like "The Doors of His Face, and the Lamps of His Mouth and Other Stories" or some thing like that I dont have it with me atm. his earlier novels arnt so good imho, but Donnerjack, Lord Demon, and the Amber series are verry good imho. Donnerjack is a sci fi book where there is a virtual high tech world mixed in with the lore of the real world. Lord Demon follows more of a mythological/Chinese theme. And the Amber books are good fantasy imho. He adds a bit of humor in his books and I like them alot. The Keys to December is my favorite of the short stories so far. BTW some of these books are prolly out of print :\
