I left my toon sitting on the edge of the tunnel in east commons. My favorate zone before they killed it with that auction zone:(
I would log on just to solo that NPC in the main room that sold useless shit .

Lets make an RP guild. Khrath can be the GL who does anything he feels like, f**k the rest of us. I can be his #2 that is in charge of the guild bank account and holder of extra loots.

Now that is f****d up you should have to be at least a Abiworld 1 member to make a Realpoor guild if not old school VN.
Also i agree EC was a billion times better than the auction zone.

AA's really killed the game for me. It was like 'OK, it took me a year to make 61-65, and now you want me to get 3,000 AA's!?!' If it wasn't obvious EQ was a never-ending treadmill before then, it sure the hell was now.

This pretty much sums it up for me. I played from release to Luclin and AA's made me leave.
While I have no desire to play any current MMO, there are a few that I am looking forward to but I will never again allow myself to get addicted as I was to EQ.

That's exactly what EQ is, a treadmill. You can only keep playing it long term if you are OK with knowing you will never get to the end, and even if you do, you won't stay there for long.

I finally got in game last night for about 20 minutes and bought a horse LOL
holy shit...the bazaar is totally messed up now!
I couldn't even remember how to play and I have to set up all my hotkeys again...which I didn't do..so I'll just be popping in to say hi to old guildies and what not,.
It made me appreciate WoW a lot, I'll admit that much

haha i got sucked back in.
i used meddyks comp though cause i uninstalled eq on mine back in nov. '04
i patched, took about 12 mins said hi to a couple old friends spent a half hour with a couple peeps helping me remember how to do everything, even simple things like make hotkeys lol
tortured folgray for a while tried to port to WoS and crashed, lol medd never had that expansion so i had to go repatch.
was fun catching up with some old eq peeps and made plans to go adventuring with a couple old friends, so its kinda fun to be back.
should be a fun three weeks.

The entire game has changed within the last year or so.
DoN introduced a mission system which dramatically changed the availability of gear for people. A couple hours gets you a 100 hp/mana item with decent ac and effects, it's basically LDoN minus the gayness.
Shrouds let you group with lower level friends and get exp for your main still.
Monster missions let you reenact shit like killing nagafen from the perspective of naggy, skarlon, tranix, etc... other monster missions let you kill for loot/gear and can be done regardless of gear level or level. The most uber 70 in the game is just as good as a naked level 1 in them minus the differences in their play abilities.
The guildhall makes travel easier than even PoK stones
CR's are different with cross zone summon corpse
Intelligent items are amusing for a bit when you get one... clockwork gnome whos made into a shield and berates you for using him for example
1 groupable qvic level gear (no flags needed to get it)
Theres a task system to give alittle more benefit to soloing
Theres been other changes too but I can't think of them at the moment.
