Now don't get me wrong, I'm not talking about the ways of making money in game, like farming mobs or selling loot or whatever, though that's sort of connected). Instead I'd be interested in hearing what, if any, are the legal venues of earning RW money by playing Vanguard? Is the "cross-world economy" exchange legalized somehow, as in, for example, Second World? Or is it all still amateurish?

If I understand correctly what you're asking, then I'm afraid I'll have to disappoint you. You can't just log in, change your USD for gold pieces, and start making money go round. There are, as far as I know, no "legal venues" of exporting the in-game gains into the real world. As it should be, IMO. It's a fantasy RPG after all, not a faux- virtual world.
