WHY 21/40 build for warlocks instead of a affliction build?

In my opinion ive always been an affliction warlock, but recently the 21/40 build has proved to be pretty good dps. In my opinion the 21/40 build works better with tier 6 gear instead of tier 4 or tier 5. You wont have to worry about getting crit gear becasue the tier 6 content (mount hyjal and bt) most of the gear that drops there is for destruction.

Also the 21/40 build free's up debuff spots on the target, prebc the debuff limit was 16, now its 40. Also you will keep shadow vulnerability up all the time with 2 21/40 warlocks and that will increase shadow dmg(from spriests and other warlocks by 20%)

Everyone out there has different opinions on how to spec characters properly. I'm sure some reasons are good and some reasons are bad. What i've found useful is checking out high end guilds and seeing how they spec their classes, and then researching around with other guilds and comparing.

It can go either way. Depending on how you've geared yourself, and your playstyle.

Affliction build is the way to go imho, unless you are raiding hardcore.

I've always been the top DPS of my guild (though we just recently broke up due to lack of attendance, probably because of school and stuff, summer ending) as Affliction.

Interesting analysis... People don't understand that your primary goal as 21/40 destruction is to make sure that the improved shadow bolt debuff is up there at all times. It really bolsters the raid DPS... I'm the last standing destruction warlock in my guild. We usually bring 3 warlocks in a raid to hyjal/bt (we clear both.) My DPS is high, but I know I contribute to all the shadow damage dealers in the raid.
