This is a bit older news, but certainly a good one.
The worst movie director of all times, German Uve Boll, won't be director of new Blizzard's and Warner Bros' project "Warcraft", a movie based on the most popular online game World of Warcraft.
Movie is planned for 2009, and it's still unknown who might be director. However, one of the applicants for the movie director was Uve Boll, so-called director, who already spoiled few good video games by turning them into trash movies.
Fortunately, folks from Blizzard laugh at him and rejected him as a obviously bad choice.
Why?
Well, this was his vision of the "Warcraft" movie:
“You go for it, to please the game fans, but on the other hand if you have the hard core gamers, they live in their own world. And you cannot fulfill their ideas from a video game based movie, it’s impossible. And to be honest, the real gamers are the typical download guys, right? They don’t pay anything for movies, because they illegally download the movies. So why I should please these guys? I need the normal audience.”
As you could see, he was ready again to make a 'faithful' adaptation.
He revealed a response he got from Blizzard in his MTV interview:
“I got in contact with Paul Sams of Blizzard, and he said, ‘We will not sell the movie rights, not to you…especially not to you. Because it’s such a big online game success, maybe a bad movie would destroy that ongoing income, what the company has with it.”
So, what else to say except: thank you Mr. Sams, thank you Blizzard for not allowing this clown without smallest trace of talent to ruin WoW.

I didn't really expect Blizzard to give him the rights anyway, they do have a good set of brains.

nope, they don't if they give directing rights to an idiot 
Game-based movies suck. I bet the storyline will be something like this:
OMG NOOB I JUST DOWNLOADD DIS LOLOZLOZLZOLZOLZ I PWN J00
It will be an epic phail. bets on the films budget will be more than the gross.

Game-based movies *usually* suck yes, but they dont have to...
I just really can't believe how Uwe Boll always managed to rape the original story's, some really had potential. In my opinion, World of Warcraft should be something along the lines of Beowulf.
Could be great, we'll see

I am really hoping that the wow movie will be as great as the lotr-s were. the "warcraft" name is too big to give it to a man like uwe boll, i've seen 2 of his films. terrible.

Unfortunately this movie will likely be trash.
It won't do the game justice.
You just have to look at all (or 99.9%) of the other movies made from games.
