ya, read that today. that's only 25 years away. I'd say he's about 100 years off. Not that I know anything about it. but 125 years just sounds better. And anyone that hears you cant say you were wrong, they'd be dead.

Well.. Your own pituitary gland is what tells your body to die. Its a built in mechanism to age your body because of the nature of life as we know it. If you could manipulate this gland into not telling your body to die, your organs atleast could sustain themselves for hundreds of years according to alot of scientists....
I am not really sure where i read about it at, i'm sure quite a few people have seen it as well tho. If you think about it all, it makes sense that there is a mechanism responsible for killing you off, if not - how would we evolve?

As much as I am for wishful think this is just stupid. Even if it was developed there would be thousands of bugs to work, what parts of the body would begin to fail? And even without age to kill you, what would be your expectance considering accidents, disease, and other killers? Just becuase age doesn't kill you why wouldn't something else? What percantage of the population really dies of old age? Even if we could do it there are tons of ways to die. Immortality is not something that will happen overnight.

this just eliminates natural causes.
This will be a problem though. Lets say it "Does" happen in 2030.
As of now, the planets population is steadily increasing. People are living longer and women are cranking out babies non-stop. Prolonging life even though its not in a god-like domain, would cause a faster consumption of resources on the planet... which inadvertenly will kill us anyway... because we would consume more resources and destroy this planet further. Its really just stopping one thing and prolonging another.
Then of course you have those relgious f*****g retards who would riot the streets and most likely create another organization that would make Al-Qaeda look like Barneys School Yard bullies.
So in essence, this scientist has done nothing.
That is unless, we colonize on mars!!! omg! total recall
