I haven't played a cloth caster since CB. Even then it was only until level 17, and, to boot, wands were broken at the time (no skill ups).
I get a blue wand and think, "Neat, I'll make atleast 25g." I check the AH to see if anyone else has the wand listed. I wind up seeing one listed for 15g.
So I get to thinking that I never, ever see people use wands in groups. Hell, I never see people use them soloing either.
So, my question: are wands honestly that worthless?

Wands are great. For example, at level 15 my warlock's best nuke does 56 damage. His best two dots do 91 and 60 dmg. My wand hits, mana-free, for 25 every time I use it. Sometimes it crits around 50.
And my wand is really no good. It's just a level 12 one, nothing fancy.
I think people don't use them because you have to push it every time. They're used to hunters auto-shoot and melee auto-attack.

melee dont really auto attack so much in wow. at least a rogue doesnt. always pushing buttons which is where 70% of DPS is in a rogue

Im pretty sure its possible to make a macro that will hit it everytime for you when it pops up.

wands kind of blow because if you dont have max skill you get resisted 90% of the time vs. a creature your level... meaning you have to click it about 100000 times to skill it up. Kind of lame. If it skilled up as you levelled I bet people would use them a lot more.
Every time I run by a critter I just pop it with my wand for skillups :/

I use mine when I need a small DD fast. Cast times on my spells are so long (at least for the DD's) that the wand is the best option for that.

I use it when I'm too lazy to run to a caster mob, but even with low strength and weak attack skills, my dps is better at 60 with a good weapon than with a similar wand so I will end up meleeing more then anything.
I might change my tune when I get the wand from Demetria, but right now I use Jaina's Firestarter and I think of it mostly as free stats.
In groups, I don't have the time to start using my wand on mobs.

You guys must have s****y wands. They are the highest DPS items in the game, and have a 0.3 (or 0.5?) second cast time with a 1 second cooldown.

Wands are resisted like hell. For me, Jaina's Firestarter (39.4dps) doesn't even come close in damage (read, not even half the dps) to a Solstice Staff of the Owl (46.7dps).
Not to mention that the staff is automatic while the wand is clicked, and that the way melee system is sometimes lagged you can actually start casting and still land hits after you have started casting...
As I said, when I get my Stormrager (62.7dps wand) I might change my tune, but I doubt the other wands in my range (50dps) will make it worth over the staff.

Wands are pretty useful at higher lvl's especially when soloing.
Ill sometimes have to use PWS twice during a fight, the last time would be when the mob is getting close to death, but would still take a few spells to kill, saves alot of mana to put a dot on it and then finish it off with want, I have stormrager which i get hits of around 150+ quite often.
Wand skill is only 295atm and it is a major pain in the ass trying to work the skill up. I try to get into quite groups on UBRS raids etc just so i can work it. Ill be lucky to get 1 or 2 skill increases during entire raid.
Would suggest working on the skill as soon as you can whilst lvling up, it really can be worth it.
