I personally would go for Warhammer because it is a more solid PVP based game with better graphics.
It really depends if you are a PVP based player or a PVE based player IMO and that is what it really boils down too... Also the amount of content and polish in WOW far exceeds the amount of polish and content in Warhammer. It just depends on what you want in the game.

The good thing about Warhammer is that you don't have to worry about keeping up with the gear, armor and loot etc... As for WoW, they release new sets of armor every 4-5 months which is hard for people who work fulltime or are fulltime students. For Warhammer, PvP gear is good for both pvp and pvm and can be earned just by pvping. But if you want a PvE game which required hundreds of hours to keep up with the tier armors, then you better quit your job.

Depends on what kind of game you want. WoW is a great game, but at the moment and whole pvp balance is sickly unbalanced, which is to be expected. I am still playing Warhammer, I enjoy it, but I will admit that's it's not a game for everyone.
It's Extremely pvp focused, since you can basically level up by pvping, but it does offer some nice pve aswell, mainly Public Quests.
If you like World pvp, and enjoy heavily teamwork then I suggest you try it out.
I hate the "Is this game better than this game" topics.
Here's why:
Majority of the posts you will see are sided towards or against the games you are comparing. Obviously. You cannot always just judge a game based upon the opinion of others unless you yourself have actually tried the game. It is all about your preference and style.
Sure, World of Warcraft is a GREAT game. I won't deny that. If it wasn't a great game it would have been shut down, as well as millions of people would not be playing it. Nor would there be expansions already. However, the game is not my style.
I prefer a mix of PvE and PvP in my games. As well as a more realistic approach to art style than what Warcraft can offer. Although most, or if not all are not realistic, you can sure argue that Vanguard or Age of Conan has more realistic graphics than Warcraft in many aspects.
I really cannot explain too much more (this is the 3rd or 4th time I wrote this) explaining on how you just need to try it for yourself. There is a trial program now for WAR, and I'm sure someone would be generous enough to offer you a trial key so you can give it a go. Another difference as stated above, WAR is much more PvP oriented, however you must PvE to get good gear.
In all honesty, I'm resubscribing to Dark Age of Camelot. It has the RvR thing down better in my opinion, as well is distant enough in art style to not have this WoW Vs. WAR kind of thing. Plus I'm a Viking at heart. =)

War does have its moments when there are hundreds of order holding a keep and hundreds of destro are trying to break in. Yeah it can get alittle laggy if your comp isnt up to snuff, but there are a ton of epic battles out there.
Wow did not offer this unless you and your guild went and raided a city or somthing which practically never happened. You dont get anything out of it in wow. In war you do.
Boss encounters in Wow beat War ten fold.
War pvp on a more epic scale kills wow.
Wow is more polished.
War is, well, war

Warhammer has been released too early. There was nearly no content at release, so everyone think it sucks. It's actually getting a bit better, but it still kind of sucks compare to WoW. WoW however, does not really have a big scale in PvP. Arena and Battlegrounds isn't really the thing that PvPist is looking for. It's fun though.
