Just wanted to set your facts straight on our 9-11 project.
first, this IS NOT A GAME being developed for commercial release or
profit, this was a class art project that utilized a gaming environment to create a reflection of what we all saw that day.
The point of the project was to examine issues regarding how we were all immersed in the images that replayed themselves over and over again on the television in our homes.
it also brings up discussions on gaming.. and why would this game be so different from say a WWII game where millions lost their lives in a tragic war? For most it seems ok to play the role of Nazis in a WWII game. .. How do you some grandfathers feel watching kids play WWII games or Fathers who were in Vietnam playing those games?
like I said.. this is not a commercial endevour and we have no
intentiions on selling this.. it was a piece made for a new media art
class..

Nah, it's unacceptable because ignorant minds don't see the irony of a disaster video game as opposed to one about military combat. Disasters are uncertain and could strike at any time, and that makes them altogether too terrifying for the common mind to cope. At least wars are precipated with months of rhetoric and propaganda to mentally prepare the citizenry for the onslaught of blood and terror that will follow upon its declaration.

Dumbfuck. Acts of war and terrorism are two very different things. Terrorism is an unexpected attack on unarmed citizenry and is completely cowardly and dishonorable, whereas war is a battle between two armed combatants, each expecting and knowing the consequences of their battle. The latter is formally justified, the former is not.
