I've been a beta applicant to WAR since early 2007, but I've never received an invite.
I heard something recently that you might be able to get in the closed beta if you pre-order the Collector's Edition of WAR online? Is this true?
If this works, is there a specific vendor you need to go through? Really want to get into the beta and check this game out.

There's no specific vendor you need to go through, but there are 3 special in-game rings you can get (all with relatively similar effects, only the type of damage done varies) based on where you preorder from, along with the beta-invite and the jumpstart access. Most major retailers (EB, Gamestop, EA.com, Amazon.com, BestBuy, and a few others) are supported, but this needs to be done by June 9th, as far as I know.

The promotion code is actually for open beta.
I know it sucks, I've been waiting for a year and a half since I first registered to enter closed beta.
Just have to keep on waiting.

The June 9th deadline was actually misinformation put out by Amazon, EA-Mythic has posted a correction stating that there is no deadline, btw.

Second to that, been registered and hyped about it from the time it was announced pretty much... still not receiving anything but the monthly newspaper.
Pre-ordering doesn't help much either, since the OB date is unknown atm, and EU war site is horrible (god I hate GOA, anyone coming from DAOC EU would know why...)

They should give the date for the open beta launch in this month's newsletter.
I hope it's soon rather than later, i want to play open beta now i pre-ordered the CE

Most are figuring between late October and early November for launch. The codes from the pre-order are for open beta, in-game items, and a head start (early launch access).
Been waiting forever for an invite to closed beta myself. They chose you depending on how many 'Orc teeth' you have by your name.
Get an 'Orc tooth' for everything from your system specs, any gamesday visits, pre-ordering the CE, BOOM-Studios comic, etc... The more 'Orc Teeth' you have, the better your chgances at getting an invite.
