I brought my Euro (Pal system)
DVD player and VCR to the states which offcourse run on NTSC.
I hooked them up to my big ass TV totally forgetting i never checked if it could run PAL. It dont...
Now, my question. were could i find a good PAL -> NTSC converter for both?
They both can play NTSC tapes/dvd's it's just the output they have is only pal.
So far the only thing i've been able to find is a 500$ converter online someplace and frankly 1k to watch DVD's is a bit much
Anyone have bright ideas?

ok let me get this straight ...your tv is ntsc and your here in North America?
Go get a philips DVP-642 for 69.99 at bestbuy.
its region free with a simple code plays pal disks as well as ntsc
progressive scan, plays every disk format ie dvd+_rw ect
as well it natively supports divx and xvids on data disks.

some of you read my post wrong.
The problem is not my DVD player, the DVD player is have IS region free and can play ANY type of disc.
The problem is the signal it outputs (i.e going from the physical player to the TV) is PAL.
The TV i have here in LA cannot handle PAL signals.
What i am saying is there is no such thing as a DVD player which outputs PAL + NTSC signals. There rarely are VCR's that did that but they are hella expensive.
I understand i can easily buy an AMERICAN DVD player which outputs NTSC and can play ANY disc from any REGION but that's a last resort.
I was hoping there was a cheaper version of the equipment i found online that can convert PAL to NTSC signals digitally. So far the only one i found is $500
So in conclusion, i can buy a DVD player to solve THAT problem
Still, my VCR wont work here and i'm hoping to find something that can convert the phusical signal between VCR and tV that is cheap
I dont wanna have to buy new shit
