Looking for a decent Video Car,d nothing super high end but in the ~200$ range pref not alot more.
I would prefer Nvidia, just due to their driver SUpport, but i have used a radeon 7200 for 2.5 years so i cant really complain too much.
I have a 8x board, AMD 2800, and a gig of ram.
I have built all this myself, so i somewhat know what im doing, but there are so many maufatures/chisets/ numbers on all of this crap.
I run ut2k4, and Everquest, and alot ofd other shit, Autocad as part of my job, and gibbscam(a CNC tool).
Id liek to beable to run with models on and stuff as i have never been able too.

For Nvidia:
I have a eVGA fx5900xt in one my boxes (was my primary card till recently) as well and it is a terrific card and very good performer (good overclocker aswell!). If you looking for a less then $200 dollar card from Nvidia it is the card to get (or the fx5900SE). You might be able to find a normal FX5900 for less then 200 aswell and it is even faster then the XT/SE(they are technically the same thing, so don't get confused if you see em). You can also flash a normal fx5900 with a fx5900Ultra or 5950 bios and gain even more performance for free
For ATi:
ATi Radeon 9800pro, hands down. Your not going to find anything faster for ~200 bucks. Its just fast as hell for its pricerange in directX9 and doesn't squeal like a pig when you turn on FsAA and AF like the Geforce FX cards do.
If you can spare another 100 ($300)
Geforce 6800 (the plain vanilla version).
When I played EQ with that fx5900XT on a AMD 2800/1gig of ram I ran perfectly fine (40-80fps average: 1280x1024@32bit with 2xFsAA,8xAF) with all models turned on and spell effects set to max even during 72player raids. I was also the main tank so I was right smack in the middle of the shit and never got any noticable slow down.
Also note that this was before the DX9 change, since I quit before they patched the game to DX9 ;p

Which means your computer will blow up now instead of running nicely.

im actually having problems with my standard eVGA 5900 card .. it randomly bluescreens my computer .. a problem known by eVGA but im not sure how to fix it .. im probably going to RMA my card and will have to deal with my geforce3 in my comp for a while (im not sure if RMAing will even fix it ...)
the card works just fine all except for the random bluescreens .. bluescreened while i was playing WC3 the other day .. and most of the time when it bluescreens its just me talking on AIM
the error is i believe DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESSTHAN_OR_EQUAL or something like that .. i have a screenshot of it but its not with me right now =\
i hope RMAing it fixes the problem .. but im thinking its more of a conflict between 2 pieces of hardware that alone work ok but together decide that bluescreening me would be funny
