Viable alternative to Sun Java?

Mostly for IE plugins and such..using Java JRE 1.5.4 ATM and still am not really happy about it. Any alternatives? I know a few of you are java guru's...speak up!
hrmmm. not really sure you can. doesnt M$ have a java? I always just use suns java
I would definitely consider running software, if I were you.

I use it coz I have to, and also run a linux box for firewall and proxy, but for desktop? fek that. Thanks tho :p
Sun writes their own Java binaries for Linux, Solaris, AIX, etc.

I use FC3 at work and it's great. I only run 4 or 5 apps plus the stuff needed to make my machine mirror the production setup, and in that capacity it's very good.
f**k sun, f**k their lawsuit that killed MS java. I'd never had any problems whatsoever using it, then after one reinstal I can't find it, so have to use the sun, and it f***s with my gfx settings, had to spend hours lookin for a reputable place to get the old MS one, which low and behold, worked perfectly!
