Why are Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reilly on that list? They're f*****g political commentators. Clarence Thomas? Please! JOHN WAYNE??!?!!?! Holy shit John Wayne didn't serve there's no way I'm voting Republican now.

That's a nice idea you have going there but it seems as if they're pulling in all sorts of names with little to no relevance for the sake of shock value.

This is why political dodgeball gives me the runs. Because every last m**********r is serving you a plate full of cowshit topped with a plump red cherry on top, and forcing you to eat it, hoping that you focus on the plump red cherry on top and not notice you're eating a big plate of cowshit.

-Nah-

Nothing really damning in there but I found some of the names interesting none the less.

You want us to ignore the names but argue why those republicans didn't serve?

Ignore the facts, they just get in the way of the issue!

Oh you're talking about the Dems that served?

Some of those men served honorably. Some of thos men such as John Kerry did not. Others like Ted Kennedy served but have been nothing but scum in civi life. I give anyone points for serving whether they are Dem or Rep but it doesn't change what I think about them on the home front.

Oh and I love how Bush's service was recorded in the PM you got lol. Oh nm I forgot his Guard records that were found are "fake" my bad.

This is stupid. It's a list of left-wingers that served in war and a list of right-wingers that didn't. There's nothing conclusive about it. Give me a political survey that says out of 10,000 democrats and 10,000 republicans, way more democrats served in war than republicans.

Poll: GIs, Families Trust Bush Over Kerry

Quote:
Bush, who served in the Texas Air National Guard, was more trusted by 69 percent while 24 percent said they trusted Kerry more, according to the National Annenberg Election Survey released Friday.

[Keep in mind that:]
The National Annenberg Election Survey found that seven in 10, 69 percent, had a favorable view of Bush. Only three in 10, 29 percent, had a favorable view of Kerry.

The Annenberg poll, which does not report head-to-head preferences, did not ask the military respondents who they support for president. The report cited a 1948 law that prohibits polling members of the military about their voting intent.

Your point? Rolling Eyes

What is key here is something that you see on this board as well.

Military types rally around the president when we are at war. It is unthinkable to question an action that is taking place - and normally unthinkable to quetion an action afterward.

It is seen as a betrayal.

And so, you ask military types who they trust- I expect that kind of result - no brainer there.

this actually doesn't really make a point that is relevant on this thread

conqueso - what exaclty are you trying to say relevant to this thread with this poll?

What is the point of "who served and who didnt"? All that matters is that the soldier trusts his/her commander in chief.

You didnt even answer your own question about all the "deferred / did not serve" for the Democrats. Jack had asked, "What does this say?" I said it didnt matter via "Your point? Rolling Eyes "

I beg to differ

I made a point - that I was appalled at the dichotomy displayed by the lists. I was wondering if anyone else felt as I.

Heh, how are things contradictory in the list when there is no basis given for a contradiction? You just say "Im appalled about how many of these folk skirted duty". What do you mean by skirted and what point are you trying to make? Do you mean "skirted" as in someone that filed a deferment like Bill Clinton or d**k Cheney or was in a non-combat role like Al Gore or Ronald Reagan or served only 4 months active combat versus over a year like John Kerry versus Oliver North (which isnt listed)? Do you mean "skirt duty" as in governors should serve, following the example of Gray Davis or should it just be for any random office like the Secretary of State following the example of Colin Powell (which isnt listed). Why are you appalled? Are you appalled because you think military service is required for a government position that interacts with the Pentagon or required for any public office?

For someone that complains about people doing a cut and paste and not following with specific viewpoints, you sure do have a lot to make up for yourself.

As I had said before: Your point? Rolling Eyes All that matters is that we support our troops and that the troops have faith in our commander in chief.

none of my comments in this thread - really rarley any other - are cut-paste jobs

I don't hide my conviciotns behind the quotes of others.

If I use quotes, I try to say why I used them, and what exactly I mean by putting them up for commentary.

the list displayed for me a dichotomy, that i mentioned. One where the power players on each side were "fairly" well represented - I will stipulate this is a partisan offering.

And I was looking for someone to rise up and try to say something in defense - looks like it's you...

No matter - the stark difference in the people on the list (and I am not talking numbers.. but who has the power up top) in who served and who didn't - speaks to me.

I hope that makes it crystal clear.
