It will be a let down. Just like everything else will be until we go completely 3d, then a bunch of those games will come out and they will suck until they find a way to tap into the brain. Then the world will end b/c no one will work anymore.

Why are you people expecting s much from this game. It is adding absolutely nothing new to the genre. I think I speak for almost everyone on RP when I say that we are f*****g sick of the formulaic mmo experience, even if it well done. Until MMOs start incorporating twich gameplay as a central game mechanic I'm done. Clicking hotkey buttons isn't entertaining gameplay anymore. At least thart D&D game has you actually swing your weapon at the enemies and allows you to dodge enemy attacks. At least they are starting to get the idea.
The only advances that have been made in MMOs since EQ are in the user friendliness and in game explaining.

It will be nice to see actual gameplay features added to new MMOs. I don't think twitch fighting will attract the kind of people you want to hang around with online. Especially not for 2-3 hours at a time.

Personally I think twitch would be fun, but only to a certain degree. I think twitch should be implemented much like Vanguard is doing now, with the laddering of skills (where you have to pick them to be at 100% dps or defense or whatever) but you can choose not to do it you just lose effectivness.
This would mean you could just kinda cruise on normal fights, ala every MMO right now, but during raids/named mobs/hard shit/trains you would have to go into twitch mode and actually play. I mean I think it would be really fun to be like an archer or a mage and have to aim your arrows/spells at certain parts of the mob for certain damage (HEAD SHOT...KILLING SPREEE). Or a tank that actually hase a block button, or something like mike tyson's punch out dodging to the left and right (LoLOL).
I agree that some sort of twich fighting would be fun, combos and such, but I also see it being exploitable with programmable mice and keyboards where you could press one button and unleash the Fury of the Whale's Vagina on a mob every round.

Yeah nothing new will come from any computer game as of late, it has to hit the VR world to make the next huge impact. That will be hot, to touch an elfs ass and feel it! WOOT!

that might be neat, or it could just really gimp archers
i think some games after eq have added some neat things here and there
that i hope someone will put all together and make something nice
WoW i think really hurt the progess of the market, as no one will want to make anything to complex.

Given that most people in these games (WoW, especially) jump around like idiots, warp from point to point from lag issues, and have runspeed problems in general ... I can't see playing an "Aim for headshot for max DPS!" class would be too much fun except, I dunno, against that f*****g worm in Luclin

Once realistic VR makes it to the home market we'll see porn games for it within a week but it'll take 4 years for an mmo.

Yea looks kinda like when you shoot your bow from the horse in Zelda 64. How retarded would that be in an MMO? You have to like, stop running, go into 1st person and completely disorient yourself, aim, shoot, run away...? There'd be less skilled ranged players as there are skilled healers...
