I just can't decide! I kind of want to play them both, and I probably will, in time, but I really need to make a choice for my first character. Which one would you guys suggest I try, and why?
(I should probably note that I have no prior experience in VG, and only limited experience in other online RPGs.)

Well, it's hard to recommend a class to someone you don't know, isn't it? I mean, choices like this depend heavily on one's play style and preferences, and I don't know yours.
You should choose the monk if you want to focus almost entirely on the offensive. You should choose the disciple if you want more versatility and offense-defense balance.
