Just found this, so I thought I'd share the info with you.

(dated April 22, 2004) Bush has spent all or part of 233 days on his Texas ranch since taking office, according to a tally by CBS News. Adding his 78 visits to Camp David and his five visits to Kennebunkport, Maine, Bush has spent all or part of 500 days in office at one of his three retreats, or more than 40 percent of his presidency.

A CBS News tally shows that Bill Clinton spent 152 days on holiday over his TWO terms.

Of recent presidents, Jimmy Carter spent the least time on vacation. He took only 79 days off during four years in office, which averages less than three weeks a year.

The president (any president of the USA) works everyday of the week, regardless of their location.

As technology gets better, it doesn't matter where you are. You can video conference etc... It is just a spin that people try to use.

Carter did it the least, cause he had the least amount of technology to get information. He had to wait for Gore to create the internet.

/shrug, a President who is in Washington working or travelling abroad promoting the U.S. is a better image than one on vacation in Texas for 1-month per year at least. I wish I had a month vacation. Even if i had to work while I was on it when "pressing matters" annoyed me enough.

frax is right, it doesn't matter where the president is.. there's always a crowd of advisers and upper government officials near him to conduct business.

why dont you try getting someone to calculate how many days of actual vacation he gets, instead of just a change of scenery for the "office"

image maybe but maybe if peopel weren't so f*****g overly critical of every f*****g minute detail of what the president does, they'd be more able to get things done.

I still think that's an awesome response to Bush criticism: the ole Clinton/t**t reference. Rolling Eyes

Your opinion of Clinton and/or his practices in the White House has no bearing on Bush's shortcomings.

Because that would not suit their agenda. The c***s are on the warpath, the jail photos, Rumsfield, times spent in Texas, LOL. The c***s are going nuts looking for anything to get under the bigs guys armor:)

I think the point is, if you're concerned about the president "looking bad" as opposed to actually governing poorly, there are worse things he could do than spending too much time in Texas.

But he's always compared to the "GOLDEN CLINTON YEARS" *Cues up the trumpets*... when in fact he's been better for this country than any president since Reagan.

lol do you actually believe that? Reagan wasn't especially great for this country either, but spin harder you might get somewhere.

I think the answer would be zero.

most people never really go on vacation either. They still have obligations, but they like changing the scenery. So maybe that answers your question?

Well duhhhh. That's how the game of politics is played. Both sides do it.

I have all kinds of reasons for why I would like Bush and several of his theories out on their a*s, but I am not for dumping Rumsfeld. If anything, I think he will do a better job now.
As far as I can tell, the hue and cry about this is coming from alot of different sides, not just democrats. That's because 1. the arab world is having fits and is watching closely to what we decide to do with this, and 2. what was done is over the line and just plain wrong.
I listened to a republican on Fox call the US the "moral authority for the world". Hello arrogance. You have to be squeeky clean to pull that one off. Not to mention super human.
