We've got desktops now that cost over 1k.
When I first started in computer retail, 2k wasn't at all uncommon. In fact, I remember when we first started seeing desktops in the $800 range salemen were getting really p****d because the price reductions obviously show on their checks too. The laptop aisles became vicious, that was the only way to make the same money.

Lately prices on peripherals have increased to cost more than the computer itself. Monitors, printers, networking, joysticks, speakers... if you want a decent setup you shell out quite a bit.

It's just an overclocked p4c. What they don't tell you is that it's probably only stable with a VCore of 1.75v or higher.
Wait until this time next year and you'll be able to blow that PC's 3DMark scores out of the water for $900.

Yeah, but then L will have a laptop out that renders new Boeing spacecraft designs as a screensaver.
