So, I'm downloading UT2K4 atm, and I was wondering, do you normally need the CD to play the game or not? And if so, is there a program I can use to not need a CD? ^_^

This probably isn't the best way, but I copied the CDs into a directory on the hard disk, then installed from there instead of from the CD. I actually did it because the CD was getting a lot of read errors and it was p*****g me off to do half an hour of installation and then crap out over and over.
At any rate, now it runs without the CD, I assume because it just looks at where it was installed from and sees whatever it expects to see. Or else maybe it would just have worked anyway without the CD

Once you patch the game, you won't need the CD.

I bought the DVD version when it was released, and I never needed a CD. /shrug.
