I'm at the laundromat again. It's sort of a ritual I do. Sounds crazy, I guess, but every time I have a hamper full of dirty clothes I come down here and wash them. I've seen some of your homes. I know this sounds crazy to you.
Below me, on the clean, tiled floor a thumb-sized fly crawls around. It is injured and, I think, old. It's pretty huge, black and oily looking. Are flies oily? I thought they were somewhat hairy and definitely creepy. But... oily?
This one is disgusting. What makes it noteworthy is the affect it's having on me. It was on its back a minute ago, thrashing its black dental floss legs around. Somehow, it managed to flip over and now it is catching its breath in the path of humans.
There is only one other person here besides me, and she looks a little skiddish. She would probably step around the fly, rather than on it. Normal, pencil eraser-sized flies are easy to kill. Who cares? They squish into a puss-colored stain, easily wiped up with a paper towel.
But this guy? His guts would cover a large dinner plate. I imagine it would be like stepping on a packet of ketchup, except instead of the tomato paste enhanced by FD&C Red #5, it would be a dingy yellow, green and black splatter of gore.
Maybe that's what makes them so disgusting: no red blood, no skin we can relate to. That, or the fact that they're gross as hell to look at. Big 'ole vacant eyes, bacteria and shit covering their feet and mouth, and the unforgettable buzz of their wings adds up to a very disturbing little package.
So why not just squash it?
It's been 5 minutes and the thing is still standing where I last saw it. Maybe it wants to be squashed. But I have hope. I hope, as much as I hate flies, it will recover and go back to its sick little fly family. I hope the 3 (oops - 2 - I just killed one) buzzing around me are thrilled to have him back in their... nest?
Wow, I really don't know much about flies. Let's see. They lay eggs in rot. The eggs hatch, eat turds, spread disease, and repeat. Do they have nests?
No, but isn't that a sick thought? Imagine thousands of flies working together to build a paper meche home, like wasps do.
I guess it would be an act of mercy to kill it. It hasn't moved in ten minutes, now. I think I'll just do to this fly what the orderlies and cooks do to your senile grandparents in private nursing homes: gently step around the offending creature, ignore it as best as possible, and let it crawl off some where to die in its own sanitized, private corner.

Maybe that's why I hate spiders but snakes are ok. At least animals and reptiles have "normal" faces.

ong cel! silverfish!!
i hate those little fekkers they have a home in my bathroom behind the toilet and under the vanity cabnet
i cant get them cause theres a tiny tiny space between the wood and the ceramic tiles that seems only they can fit threw!
i hate bugs, all bugs, they belong outside not in my home!! i squish em if i see em. cept silly spiders who somehow manage to creep in once in a while. i take those outside and let em go.
btw, not sure if this was just my father fekking with my head or something, but when he was an exterminator he said they purposely released silverfish in high risk buildings.
by that i mean they call in exterminators spray for roaches ect and release a little box of these little silverfish fekkers into the building ON PURPOSE!!
apparently they live in walls and such and eat dust an thus any roach eggs, ect ect...
its a roach prevention system. or so i was told but then again ... the sorce isnt totally reliable. /shrug

He was probably right. Would you rather have 2 spiders or 250 flies?
