Downloaded keygens, serials and cracks usually come with some nasty piece of malware.
I think that's why people still like to buy key from original owner.

Is it safe?
I couldn't resist.
Of course, nothing is safe, but there is a nice site called virustotal.com, where you could upload suspicious files and check them with several mainstream and underground antivirus and antispyware programs.
It's very practical for smaller files like keygens and cracks.
Another thing regarding safety. Few days ago, I downloaded virus in Tom Petty MP3 song (?). I think there is no format that is 100 % safe. Even .doc and .txt files could also be potential bearers of infection.
So... Is it safe?
