Was driving with a friend of mine today in his Camaro, when we're sitting at a red light and some man in a white van starts talking to us about selling surround sound speakers.
Now, I know the attention span of most of the readers here (myself included), so I'll shorten it as much as possible.
I ended up buying these speakers from him for $250. They were packaged, had a manual, magazine ad that claimed they were worth $2,500, and had ID on him that proved that he installs these for a living. He said there were a few extra that his boss missed, and he was selling them for some quick cash. It looked 100% legit (minus the whole selling out of a van heh).
They're good speakers for $250, and if you think I got scammed, think again. I'm very happy with this purchase, and now a few friends of mine are driving around with a couple hundred bucks cash looking for this stuff.

Click on that link, there's hundreds of people that tell their story, interesting stuff.
And here's their official website

So what do you all think about this?
EDIT: Misspelled the name of company ;p

Not only did you get scammed, you don't even realize it when presented with overwhelming evidence to the fact. Your own link has at least 20 people telling the same story about the mysterious "guy in the white van" who, each and every time, has given the unaware buyer the impression that their merchandise is stolen or was procured in a highly dubious fashion.
I live in a college town, and there is no shortage of bored people looking to make a quick dollar here, either. I've been stopped, literally, no less than 5 times in the past 3 months by people trying the "Hey buddy, take a look at these speakers" gig, most of the time right as you get out to go to the ATM. Because my friend is from the stone age and dislikes ATM machines, I have to wait in the car while he goes inside to get cash whenever I'm with him. Once I saw the same guys loop through the parking lot twice within 20 minutes and try their pitch on a new crowd of ATMers. That's not even the best part. Can you guess what is? I bet you can. Half the time it was the same 2 guys in the same white f*****g van!
Ok, ok.. the van was a pastel green. Sue me.

I only copy/paste that because you must not have read it the first time through. Speakee engleesh?
If you fell for that, I've got a computer system to sell you:
http://www.go-l.com/desktops/machl38/features/
(Yes, if you do your research, you'll find that this, too, is a scam)
Seriously, the speakers you got might have been an alright deal at 250. If you aren't big into A/V stuff, it can be difficult to tell the difference between a 200 dollar pair of speakers and a 2000 dollar pair. Most are accustomed to listening to $12 computer speakers or even cheaper factory car setups, so those $75 speakers might sound orgasmic.
These guys prey on unsuspecting buyers. Next time you see them, act like you're interested in their pitch, then all of a sudden pull out a pen & paper and jot down their license, then pull your cell out and tell them you're calling the police. I don't know if what they're doing is actually illegal, but I bet it scares them shitless just the same.

I smell scam.
The speakers may appear legit, but they are likely counterfit, defective, or have the insides replaced with another brand of speaker.
The speaker gig is 99% scam. I've heard many, many people talk about this and only once in a blue moon does someone actually sell you the real deal and it's usually a theft job which doesn't happen very often.

Hmm we must be neighbors, or those same guys go all over the country selling speakers that their boss sent them out with extras of, or something. Have had the same thing happen to me 2 or 3 times and I always just said Sorry, not interested and left. Not sure if they are selling legit speakers that are stollen, or some type of cheap imitations or what but any deal like that which seems to good to be true has always bothered me.

its actually a marketing technique. That company has been around for a while scamming er..selling these speakers. Our local news did some reasearch, took them to a lab and had them tests. There worth ~$20 or so. basically radio shack speaker quality.

I didn't get scammed, I'm happy with the product.
Getting scammed would entail taking the box home and discovering that I just bought some extremely expensive bricks.
I bought a product, they just have a different-then-conventional sales pitch, they simply feed off of peoples greed, and it works, run on sentences are fun.
