Hi! I have a friend in Boston. I saw her last summer and since then I miss her a lot! I heard from our friend that she is in online community called Second Life. After doing some googling I found out that is some kind of game. Can you tell me a little bit more about this game? If I make account and enter that game, will I be able to chat with her? She told her ex boyfriend that she will be on IM in the game. What's that?

Second Life (also called SL) is an Internet-based virtual world which came to international attention via mainstream news media in late 2006. Residents are the users of Second Life, and their appearance is their avatar. Within Second Life, there are two main methods of text-based communication: local chat, and global "instant messaging" (known as IM). The flat, Earth-like world of Second Life is simulated on a large array of Debian servers, referred to as the Grid.
