|
|
|
| Quote: |
The UCLA AIDS Institute scientists genetically altered HIV and folded it into an envelope made of another virus called sindbis, which typically infects insects and birds. That turned the altered HIV into a missile that hunted down metastasized melanoma cells(cancer cells) in the lungs of living mice.

Lol, reminds me of a show I saw yesterday on The Science Channel. They added jellyfish protein/DNA/RNA (I forgot exactly) to a mouse and the mouse was glowing in the dark, especially in the eyes.

man walks into the doctors office. doctor says to him "well sir, you have two choices". man sighs as he says "i'm dying aren't i?" doctor says "i can cure your cancer". man goes hysterical that his cancer can be cured. doctor then says "the treatment is me giving you altered HIV".
which do you want to die by? Cancer or altered HIV.

that would have bean a little funny if the altered HIV would have actually hurt someone's immune system and not just kill the cancer cells.

Pretty sick. Use one of the worlds most deadly diseases to cure another of the most deadly diseases. Irony.

If we take God's punishment for gayness and use it to cure cancer, he's going to be soooo p****d I don't even want to think about what he might do.

Jack, are you advocating avoiding experimental drugs based on your fears? It's okay. A lot of people oppose things like penicillin, aspirin and kidney dialysis because of their potential dangers, too.

experimental drugs need time before they are used
my grandmother probably died because oops, the drug she was taking causes spontaneous heart attacks ... they recalled it shortly after ..
what was it again, procrit or something ...
these companies make fucktons of cash on new drugs .. they don't bother spending real time to test them .. why? because its inefficient
i mean really, if you're supposed to take a drug every day for the rest of your life, and they didn't spend 20-40+ years testing it (they probably didn't spend more than 5) .. how are you to know what it could do to you in the long run?

Maybe it's God endorsing gayness by giving us the cure for cancer?

If you spent a lifetime testing drugs (thats the only way you'll know the long term effects) before releasing them we would still be waiting for penicillin.

if there's an immediate need in a situation where death is probable thats different ..
especially for something you only take in one instance ..
but for something you take every day .. you should test for the long term
