Powerball is up to $200 million. Government takes 40% of winnings (I think). Cash option is $114 million. So, if you took the cash option you' d have approx $68 million after taxes.
If you're a s****y investor and bust the $68 million into, I dunno, $100k chunks (FDIC max) across 680 savings accounts (  ) earning a mere 2.5%, you'd still bring home 1.7 million per year. After taxes this is pretty much $1M per year, forever, never touching the interest.
SOOOOoooo....
What would ya spend it on? Or would you blow all $68 million on EQ plat?

That's why I cut the theoretical limit at $100k. Who wants to put all their eggs in one basket?
Now that I think about it... is there any other free (except the $5 / month checking account fee) insurance on any investment besides the FDIC?

I would put 50mill into Savings to begin with, not touching it for at least 5 years. I would give my parents and brother/his wife 1 mill each. I'de probly give the rest of my family members about 100k.
I'de buy a pimped out Benz, Aston Martin, and probly some other kind of sweet car, and a big house on a lakefront maybe in the Ozarks or maybe on an island in the Caribean, or possibly build one around where I live now with lots of plasma TV's, a great computer, lotsa cool shit inside.
I'de hire a crew of mexicans to go around to every m**********r from my past and shovel shit in their porch/yard/mailbox whatever.
I'de spend the next 5 years smoking weed and chillin, completly alone, not dealing with any other human beings. I hate all people. f**k them. After that I would get toghether with maybe my grandpa or dad and invest in things to make more $ since they are pretty smart about that type of shit and I can for the most part trust them, give them a cut on it.
Start a White Urban children college fund. Tell the NAACP to kiss my white pasty ass and offer to integrate into the negro college fund into an org that provides money to all kids, not just black. (Obviously they'd refuse and call me racist)
Build a skate park, ice ring, fitness center, race track and all kinds of shit in my house.
I would definatly provide for my family and the few people in my life that havnt stabbed me in my back, tried to take me for a fool, etc... But I would for the most part live the rest of my life by myself without having to deal with any other human life whatsoever. I f*****g hate people. Did I already mention that?

Well first of all you would have to store them in 680 seperate banks--not accounts. There are exceptions of course with IRA's, trusts and a few other types of accounts but the FDIC only insures 100k for a single person per bank.
I think the first 500k is covered for brokerage firms IIRC but it has been a while since I payed any attention to it so I am probably wrong.
Unless you deposit all your money in one or two small banks there is not much to worry about and honestly you would get more benifit from having fewer small accounts than having a great many tiny accounts. You would get much better interest rates for one.
