First I want to thank Nahualli for being a most excellent host!
I arrived in the South Bay on Friday morning, due to my non-disclosure agreement I am kept from saying much about my interview at a certain comapny (hint they do the ads for this website).
Everything had gone smooth this weekend, Friday after said interview I went and saw a movie (there's not much to do in the San Jose area) and returned to my hotel and got some much needed sleep.
Saturday started out innocuous enough. I woke around 11am and my sister and I took off for our tour of San Francisco. We arrived at around 1pm and parked at Pier 23. We walked down to Fisherman's Wharf. Its at this point we both realize neither of us had brought our Digital Camera's, so after some short searching we found a shop and both purchased disposable cameras. We walked around much of that area. Had lunch at a place called Dante's (very good Bruschetta). After what seemed like forever (actually 4 hours) we were done, we decided to nix going to Ghiradelli square due to the fact that we wanted to get away from the crowds that had gathered in the area. We walked back to Pier 23, now I'm not so good with distances but I figure we walked roughly 5 miles. After arriving at our rental car (this becomes important later) I contacted Nahoo who gave us directions so we could meet at the Sony Metreon as we had earlier planned to go see Batman Begins. We arrived at roughly 6pm and meeting up with Nah we decided to go get some dinner. We walkewd through Chinatown and North Beach and finally arrived at The San Francisco Brewing Company where we had a very good meal. At this point we still had an hour or so left before the 10pm movie start time so it was suggested that we make one more stop.
This stop was the The View Lounge on the 39th floor of the Marriott Hotel in Downtown. After drinks we headed across the street to the Metreon and saw the movie of course. The end of the night approached and as my sister and I were both very tired and looking forward to heading back to the hotel we moved quickly to the parking garage across the street from the Metreon. We paid the parking fee's and found our rental just as we had left it on the 3rd floor. Now comes the fun part. As I approach the car I realize I no longer have the keys! After some yelling on my part due to frustration we finally contacted a cab (only after exhausting our search abilities for the keys at the places which we had gone to). We hail a cab and the drive informs us that the fee to drive to Mountain View where we are staying is going to 115.00 bucks, we readily agree at this point because we have no other options. During this time I'm calling the rental car company to find out what my options are, no one speaks english and they keep saying "the car is your responsibility" duh no shit and then refer me to a locksmith, all the locksmiths in town say they can't make keys for the car so I'm f****d at this point.
Fortunately after checking both my personal auto insurance policy and my credit card agreement both cover theft ect of rental cars so I'm covered, at this point the car is just sitting in a garage in downtown SF bleh.

I had a phone interview with Google. They said the opening was for a sysadmin type position so I read up on subnet masks and all that sort of thing. When the guy finally called he said he was going to be asking questions for a software engineering position. When I said I had been told it was a sysadmin position the guy basically said "oh well" and said to do the interview anyway. So he was asking retarded questions like "what's a good algorithm for sorting 1 billion integers," which is the kind of stuff I hadn't looked at in 5+ years. I know quicksort is good, but I was actually able to explain merge sort, which I remember is also O(n log n) so I said merge sort, and then he said "well how would you sort 100 megabytes of integers on a system that only had 2 megs" and I basically gave up, because my gut response was "increase the swap."
Between the fact that it wasn't the position I'd been told it was, the fact that they wouldn't even give me a ballpark salary (said compensation is determined in a different department from recruiting), and the fact that they said I'd have to move to Ireland, I completely lost interest. As did Google!

seriously don't move to mountainview
SF is not the same as SJ/SC. the only good thing about that far inland is down town SJ and C&J's sports bar on el camino real and lafayette st.
you may think SJ is SF, but after your there awhile you'll see a big difference. its not even worth living is SJ. ask nah
however i would like to add that santa clara university chicks are easy.

Oh its no problem man after I yelled at my sister in the Marriot (yea for making scenes) we hailed the cab which in and of itself was interesting as the driver basically was falling asleep at the wheel all the way down to Mountain View. What irks or scares me or whatever is that the car is going to get towed or something equally lame. I'm not too worried about Budget as they were NOT helpful in the least bit. I did get ahold of a Sunnyvale Chev dealer and he was like yea we can cut a key but no one is here today that can do that. Then I found out my house/car keys are missing from the Hotel as well, now honestly they may still be in the rental car but I don't recall having brought them with me. What really really sucks is that neither the Metreon, The View or SF Brewing Company had any lost keys turned in. So my only guess is that they dropped out somewhere on the street while I was snapping pics of the Transamerica building *sigh*. My mom gave me a Clonzepan when I got into town to calm me down as I was nearly hyperventilating. I realize in the whole grand scheme of things its not a huge deal but I like structure insomuch as I like when things go smoothly.
As far as Mountain View/SJ Isriam yea I wasn't impressed whatsoever its like 2 completely different cities. San Francisco is a wonderful place and I really enjoyed it up there but of course I would never want to make that commute on a daily basis. I have most certainly decided that I'm going to accept the job in San Diego. Hell I was drunk there and didn't manage to lose a g*****n thing

I could have brought my universal key for you.
Hammer and a screwdriver.
Works like a charm on just about any lock.
Insert screwdriver into keyslot.
Hit hard with hammer.
Voila!
Instant key.

Learned how to spin a lock too.
