The Pirate Bay is Purchased

Software company Global Gaming Factory X AB is looking to seal the deal with previous owners for approximately US$7.8 million for the site.

This acquisition appears to be the first step into turning The Pirate Bay into a legal site. According to Hans Pandeya, CEO of Sweden's Global Gaming Factory, "We would like to introduce models which entail that content providers and copyright owners get paid for content that is downloaded via the site."

Oh wow..didn't know a public torrent would be worth so much.

Well, it's more what could be done with the site itself.

It is worth considerably more
Last I checked,based on traffic data, the site was worth closer to 19 million.

This seems more like a way out. I would not be surprised if the charges go away or are reduced to exclude monetary compensation

No matter what they claim, as I say, this is a backdoor and they are taking it

Now, who could blame them ? They were facing more than this in fines. So why sell ? Think about it.

Anyone who calls them a sellout,let's see them step up and face millions in fines and imprisonment
