Just goes to show Americans have an insatiable appetite for watching graphic torture and murder.

You've got to wonder: was the crucifixion [i]really]/i] the worst death anyone in history has ever endured? It only took three days. What about some of the people Saddam killed? Or certainly the Catholic Inquisition tortured people horribly with knifes and hot irons, stretching on the rack, reeling their intestines out of their bodies while they were still alive, etc. I'm sure lots of those were drawn out far longer than three days.
So was the crucifixion really the most pain anyone has ever gone through? If not, why not? Would God let his own Church torture mere humans to a greater extent than his Son, who supposedly suffered enough to atone for every single sin in the entire world?

Crucifixion would be very painful. The nails and the hanging from a cross part, especially.

Well, yeah, I wouldn't want to do it personally. But thousands of people were crucified in history, not just Jesus. The didn't nail them all up; some they tied, but they nailed up a lot of them.
It just seems like there must have been at least one guy in history who had a worse death than Jesus.

Crucifixion in the manner that Jesus was, i think, would be one of the worst ways do die. You see, all of your weight is being held up by 3 nails, or in some religions 2 nails. On the 3 nail theory when you have your weight on your nails drivin into your hands, you have a very hard time breathing. So people would literally stand on the nails being driven through his/or feet, just for a gasping breath to fall back onto his/her hands. And most would live for 3ish days in that manner.
Just thinking about it makes me squirm

The same people that are out spoken against The Passion due to it's graphic violence are the same ones that loved watching Kill Bill.
Double standards again???

Worse pain then that? Easy try someone burned to the 3rd degree all over the body.
A life time of pain beat 3 days in my book any time.

There may have been others who suffered more. What makes Jesus' death unique is
1) He knew it was coming and
2) He had the power to stop it. He only had to succumb to the devil.
But he didn't because he chose to die his painful death for mankind. The purpose of this movie was to illustrate the extent of his sacrifice. It was violent, but not grautuitous.

The point is not that it was the worst death ever, the point is that he was innocent of all things. Jesus had NEVER done anything wrong, he had never sinned. He was the perfect sacrificial lamb. Others who died horribly were not sinless because as the bible says "We all have sinned, and fallen short of the Glory of God" Although others have died more painfully, Christ died so that they can live forever in Heaven.

The king of all animals, then? You may have been the "zookeeper", but that doesn't necessarily mean you're civilized...you could have been the shittiest zookeeper ever...
You're leaving out important details...of course I was just joking and am not looking for a serious response. ..
