I just saw The Passion tonight. Decided to wait a few weeks so that I could see it without weeping people in the audience.

I've never seen a film like it. Made me squirm a bit, the music and cinematography were amazing, and there was one particular scene involving Mary running to Jesus who had fallen whilst carrying his cross that made the film worth 8 bucks right there.

If you've put off seeing it because you aren't religious (like me), you probably should, as movies like this aren't made too often for the big screen.

I saw it opening night, and that itself was an experience. It was complete silence, before during and after the movie.

Everybody I know who has seen the movie has mentioned the scene when Mary runs to the youth Jesus after he fell, and that scene stood out to me as well. Not because it was particularly moving, but because she kept shaking her hands like a gimp. It was so akward the way she was shaking her hands that it took away from the emotional aspects of it.

I'm not very religious, but the scene after the torture when you see a closeup of Mary, Mary and his brother crying was tough to handle. Especially since you can see/hear Jesus getting beat in the background.

The head of the Jewish temple was the perfect casting, too. When the Roman guy presents Jesus to him after the torture, and asks if he is pleased, and he just screams out "CRUCIFY HIM". The way the actor said those words with such conviction was chilling.

People were a lot simpler back then. She was probably worried.

Anyways, I wish they'd make more big budget Bible fliks. Even though I'm not a believer, the stories are good.

god no, most of the bible stories would be total shit if converted to video. The only reason this film was successful is even a non-christian can empathize with the mob-mentality b******t from back then and the sheer cruelty this man experienced for his convictions.

A bank robber in Atlanta stole $25,000 from a bank a couple years ago and was never caught. He just turned himself in because he saw The Passion twice.

I really liked the part where Jesus was tortured for 45 minutes straight.

I felt like that put lots of weight on the really relevant part of Jesus' life. Forget about all that "love your brother/ peace on Earth" crap. The important stuff is blood, pain and suffering, right?

Wow. You're completely ignorant of Christianity, yet you criticise it. how utterly unsurprising.

Assuming you knew, for an absolute fact, that if you could live a good life for 33 years, and suffer 3 days of torture, you would have infinite joy, how hard could it really be? Compared to mathematically infinite power and happiness for eternity, doesn't three days of pain sort of fade into insignificance? I

t's sort of like saying you need to not break any laws for one microsecond, and for the rest of your life you'd be king of the world. Doesn't seem so daunting.

What the f**k are you talking about, nitwit?

First of all, I probably know more about Christianity than you do. Second, I'm criticizing a film for what I believe to be it's irresponsible depiction of Jesus. I'm not criticizing the religion. In fact, I said NOTHING about the religion.

Kbarr, here's a little poem for you:

Roses are red, violets are blue-ish.
If it weren't for Jesus, we'd all be Jewish.

Oh... and you're an a*****e. Cool

I'm calling you out as a complete moron because if you knew the first thing about Christianity (which you obviously don't) then you would know that Christ sacrificed himself as an act of love for humanity. He suffered for our sins. Now if you DID know shit from shinola, you would realize that the central theme of the movie is Jesus' love for mankind and the sacrifice he bore for us. Now please continue pretending you know something. It's rather cute.

gotta agree with phoenix on that one, the whole sacrificing himself as the last sacrifice humanity would need to offer for its sins was really the central goal of his life and his purpose, he did alot of preaching about how to live yes but the bible makes it pretty clear that sacrificing himself and taking the weight of all sin upon himself was the central purpose for his being.
