Good read. I actually found some spots that I didn't think about, and some interesting things about the farmers.
I thought farming for my epic mount was hard, but these guys have to make 400 gold quotas in 12 hours... Now that's f*****g crazy!
P.S. Very long read, but worth it imo.

This is dying market. Eventually, the next genre of MMORPGs will have translogs with currency transactions between characters.. (shit, Blizzard already has it encoded it into their WoW servers). Simple algorithims actually...
(take this with a grain of salt, I know jack shit about actual network code)
If translog000 > 1000g;
send to logserver.sql
If multiple translog occurs within 0:50 and > 100g Or <whatever value>
send to logserver.sql
Probably a couple other configs setup that send the translog between chars for investigation. Eventually, I'm willing to bet companies will start adding 10-20 digit identifiers for each piece of currency and / or assign identifiers to certain areas of the virtual world (to easily track large sums of currency obtained from one account over a continous period of time).
Like I said, its a unhealthy business. Not to mention every MMORPG dies in a few years (inevitable) and investing in one game and making the transistion over to the next genre is very costly.
