|
|
|
Well IF you had been watching the finals you would know this series has been amazing all but the first 2 games which were pretty boring.
Who is going to win game 7?
I am picking Anaheim.
Oh and for Akronn in regards to another thread you posted about us Canadians not having hockey to talk about and such, we love the sport - not only when JUST our team is in the finals. I did however like Don Cherry in the intermission also comment on saying to sell the game in the US there has too be lots of goals and he said us Canadians like a tight low scoring game, this was in regards to like the 5 goals scored in the first period the other night. Either way has there been enough goals for you in the last 4 games? Oh that's right you are apparently not watching...

I have seen the scores but haven't watched a minute of the last couple of games. It does sound like better hockey, but saying so is pure speculation on my part.
Don Cherry proves yet again why he should be commissioner, he knows exactly where the game stands. It's well documented that the US shares no love for soccer, and 1-0 chippy hockey games frequently bare too much resemblence. Call it a cultural preference, but recognize that the NHL will not survive without extensive US involvement.
The home team has won every game this series, right? It's game 7 and I'll probably watch, but I have to believe NJ will win this one. It's in NJ and they've gone through this before, in fact they'll have as many cups as Detroit this past decade. Maybe now all the irrational haters will get off the Wings' backs a little.

You think Canada shares a love for soccer more than the US? Canada doesn't even have a professional league up here. Either way again that is purely what everyone prefers but I definitely agree that Canadian's generally love a close checking and low scoring game. I do however think differently on the whole Jersey/Detroit thing.
Jersey has been a solid team for years without adding much and without losing much as far as their core goes - I think where people argure against Detroit is they purposely go out and buy talent such as New York but nowhere near as bad. Not that I have a problem with it but that is how a lot of the public sees it - hell even their owner said sure I do, I am here to win!

Detroit's first two cups were with practically identical teams, 2/3rds of which had either been with the team awhile or drafted by the team. They didn't buy those cups by a longshot. Now last year's cup? Hmm, Hasek and Hull were certainly purchases... but really that's all I can think of past maybe Robitaille, and that guy was useless.
Look at the core of the team: Yzerman, Fedorov, Lidstrom, Datsyuk, Zetterberg, McCarty, Fischer, Draper, Holmstrom, Bykov, and Dandenault have never played anywhere else, and Shanahan, Larionov, and Maltby have been here for years. That's most of the team right there.
Illitch is generous with signing his own free-agents, Yzerman, Fedorov, and Lidstrom in particular have been very well taken care of. That's the kind of money he's referring to as throwing around. What's wrong with keeping the guys you drafted?
In fact, Joseph was the only high profile free agent they signed last year. The other additions, Woolley and Schneider, arrived via trades for picks and prospects. That's not exactly a shopping spree, man.

I am not saying they have tried to go out and buy them exactly but that is how a lot of people look at them, honestly I don't see a problem with it, you want too win generally you need the best.

I know that's how alot of people look at them, and that's a shame. Sure their payroll is high.... but god over 20 million of it is wrapped up in Fedorov, Yzerman, and Lidstrom, guys Detroit drafted. Their scouting system is in a league of its own, and everybody holds it against them.

The odds say that New Jersey should win game 7 since EVERY STINKING GAME has been determined with home ice advantage but here is the catch. EVERY and I repeat EVERY time there seems to be a sure f*****g thing in the world of sports that bettors go nuts over, Vegas and the bookies make that freaking phone call to the Favorite and tell them to tank it since they stand to lose MILLIONS of $$$$$. Using that logic, Anaheim will defy all odds and WIN game 7 just to s***w over 90% of the betting world betting against them thereby lining the pockets of the bettors and Vegas even more.

Akronn,
the sad thing is you possibly watching tonight's game which LIKELY will be very close and very low scoring and the way things go possibly one of those boring games and realistically you have missed some of the best playoff hockey in years with the previous 4 games!!

Great game. Kariya got fuckn wasted by Stevens and I'm amazed he came back .
Hockey finals is way better than the NBA finals this year. Anyone catch that spurs nest yawner yesterday? 60 pts for the half? wtf.

Kariya got seriously f****d up.
What a hit even though I think it was a late hit, hell Kariya's team mate had the puck on his stick in motion when he got rocked!!
Stevens is just lucky the ducks have no tough guys or his head would have been taken off next shift

Stevens is a f*****g brainless buffoon who lacks the puckhandling skills and finesse to ever be remembered for anything else, other than a stereo-typical "tough guy." Sure, his role on the team is the 'bump and grinder' and 'enforcer' but when he checks players he does it in such a way, that could be called sadistic and malicious. Yea checking and fighting is part of the game, but I for one don't think that trying to end someones career so your team can advance one game is the way to play.

I felt real bad for Gigure and not to mention that crowd of NJ c**t p****s. Now that I don't live in jersey anymore I can say that all people in NJ are arrogant c**k suckers and should burn in hell. But atleast the Devils gave props to Gigure, he deserved the comns trophy more than anyone in the NHL this playoff. Devils are a great team, they score and it increases their motive to play harder. What can you say, the ducks were rookies to the playoffs. Maybe next season.

Anyone have it recorded?
There was a highlight reel with a song called "Overlooked" as the background that I want.
EDIT:::::::
NM, found that it was on ESPN and unless the game was on there I don't think anyone would have it, think it played with Sportscenter or something.

OMG Maybe Hockey is one sport that ISN'T rigged by Vegas. New Jersey won like they were supposed and no BS upset to further line the pockets of the Vegas bookies.

Can't agree more with this. That was awful how they were booing him when he was announced the winner. About as bad as both Canada and the US dissing each other's anthems in the past.

I honestly don't feel he deserved it. I guess the last round doesn't mean anything? He got blown out pretty bad.

He won the previous 3 series hands down. No other player did that for their team period.
How did he get blown out in the last series? They lost in the 7th game and the ducks barely showed up, it wasn't as if Brodeur was REALLY tested in game 7 or the other games he had a shutout for that matter, remember you never watched the first 2 games

BTW.... Jersey fans SUCK! They have ZERO class if you didn't see all the booing and shit they gave when Giguere won the Smythe Conn Trophy. What a bunch of tards for them to do that even though they just won the Stanley Cup. Hell, even the Devils Players has to settle the crowd down and shake and congratulate him to smooth things over. Jersey hockey fans are a bunch of fucktards (tm by Aluaeia).

Yeah but overall man, look at him with detroit and all the other playoff games. He was dominating. The only way you could land a goal on him was top shelfing it for the most part. I mean no goalie can stop every goal but Giguere came pretty close, heh
