Lol, this is so lame. I got an envelope (maybe some of you got them too) with the prominant return address of The Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency. Obviously b******t but I figured I'd look at it. It's a slick little package to scare you about the dangers and cost of not having flood insurance with nice phrases like "Don't wait until it's too late and your hopes and dreams have been washed away". It's signed by Michael Brown, the Under Secretary for Emergency Preparedness and Defense, and helpfully includes the printed addresses and phone numbers of two local insurance agencies that just happen to supply said flood insurance.
I guess it's not that bad in that it does sort of serve a slight public interest, but I have a sneaking suspicion the insurance lobby figured out a way to get some of those Homeland Security dollars that are being thrown around , in the form of free advertising and publicity. Just seems sleazy.

I can think of a few things that are way sleazier. One involves a sink.
