|
|
|
Alright, so my brother bought me a tv the other day as an 'early x-mas present.' Akai 26" Wide-screen LCD flatscreen. Upon closer inspection, I found out I could buy a VGA cord to connect the TV and my PC to each other, having the tv act as a moniter.
However, once the VGA cord is connected (so TV is useable as a moniter), my moniter goes into a type of sleep-mode, and won't function until I unplug the PC from the TV.
So heres my questions: Is it possible to keep my moniter running while I have the VGA cord connected to the TV? I'd like to use my PC as my DVD player, but if I have to plug in the wires and unplug them everytime i do/dont want to use it...it just seems like there is a better way.
So if there is a way to keep my moniter working, is it a software program I need? Or...????
I also have some audio questions, but I'll wait till I solve the video problem before asking those ;p

I guess thats my question...do I need a 2nd video card to have the montier and tv running at the same time?
Is there anyway to make it so that I can have the cords connected, but my moniter stays as primary moniter?
Right now if the cords are connected at all, the montier goes out. Can I keep it switched 'off' to the moniter or something?

You need to set up your machine as having two monitors. That is usually done in your driver suite.
Or, Start>>Control Panel>>Display

or Right click on your Desktop (no icons) and select Properties then tab over to settings.
If your video card supports it you can have a 1 and 2 monitor and you tell Windows how to manage it there.

Once again I'm going to plea newb.
I have an ATI RADEON 9800 Pro 128mb vid card if that helps at all. I didnt see any options about setting up a dual moniter...if you could be more specific that'd be great ;p
I'm heavily buzzed, probably not helping either.

With Nvidea drivers the video configuration menu's come up...try that...

Yeah I checked there ;p
Didn't see anything about adding dual displays or anything close to it though...
