Atm i have 4 machines i use regurly but they are getting full Razz
On one i basically just have XP and EQ as programs, and the rest is storage and temp download space for all my donwload progs.
That machine has 120 gigs of which theres bout 7 free Razz
2nd system is my main game machine which has 320 gigs worth of space and 2 DVD players. That has about 20 gigs free which i need as swap space for movie editing etc.
Then the last 2 have 90 gigs and 40 gigs. Both are filled to the brim with backups of home video's i edited.

Now as you can see that's a total off 570gigs, of which i got like 50 or 60 free atm. but it regurly fills with swaps, downloads i later delet etc.

What i need is a good way to backup most of my movies (which consists of about 400 of those 570 gigs).
Atm i only have a DVD burner but at 4 gigs per disc...f**k that Razz

I want something that can hold lots of room, is reliable and accesable at least as fast as a CD/DVD-rom or pref HDD.
I already have the max amount of HDD's in my systems, plus i want something independent of them incase of crashes Razz

Anyone have a good idea?

erm...no Razz

My house is not messy plus i CANT delete anything older then 2 months Razz
Most of it is either home movies from vacations (full DV backups run about 4 gigs per 20 min Razz) and shit of which there is no other backup, or movies i downloaded of the net (i dont feel like buying 20000 dvd's Razz)
Plus home made pr0n can make me money when i finish my website Razz

And no, i dont want more harddrives, they wont fit in my machines Razz
all either have 2 CD drives which i need for installing shit, or are laptops or have 4 HDHD's

I don't understand why you don't put the dv movies onto dvd for backup. It's really impractical to store all your movies on your harddrive. I bet that you don't need anywhere close 20000 dvds either (sounds like 50-100).

well coz it's a small amount, 30 gigs of DV movies i could put on DVD but that would cost shitload of time.
The problem is the 370 gigs of movies , series (think enterprise all seasons, stargate, red dwarf etc) and assorted porn Razz

THAT i dont wanna backup to DVD Razz

Just backup your shit to DVDs. Yeah it will take a week, yeah it will suck, but without getting more HDs I really don't see another cost effective solution.

Maybe after a week of backing shit up, you'll think twice about letting all your drives max out before doing it again. Razz

well under the 25k for that ebay thing Razz

I dont really mind spending a bit of cash for a good viable backup solution not including tapes (they suck ass).

What i really want is 1 place to backup up to 250 (pref 500) gigs ala raid style so i have 2 or 3 redundant backups

So spend about 500-600 bucks, get a mini-ATX case ($30), a raid mobo($70), a cheap processor($40), some cheap memory($40) and a couple 200GB HDs($300-400). LAN it to your machines, borrow a monitor/keyboard/mouse from another system to set it up and just back it up over LAN. Turn the box off and put it away when you don't need to send shit to it.

This gives you a HD-speed reliable backup that also has the handy-dandy feature of immediate search, lookup and movability of every file backed up.

I think that will be the simplest solution Spit, i just dont have much room for yet ANOTHER system atm Razz
guess i'll have to wait till i move to do that.

And dunn, blast away *wink wink nudge nudge*
