A pally has nothing on a warrior when it comes to tanking hands down. Simply, pallys don't have enough attacking powers to hold aggro like a warrior. Pallys can tank however

Unfortunately this is about right. Pally tanks have inferior mitigation as well as inferior threat generation (against a single target). The only advantage they have over a warrior tank is on fast hitting bosses (like prince) or AOE tanking. But a skilled warrior will still get the job done.

I've seen them both do exceptionally well. In the guild I'm in (working on the 4th boss in BT) we have a warrior main tank and a pally offtank. I'd still say a warrior is a little better for single target boss fights, but nothing beats a pally when it comes to heroics or 10 mans (we use 1 pally tank, 7 dps and 2 healers in kara, 2 tanks (warrior/pally), 5 dps and 3 healers for ZA).

Generally 1v1 a warrior is by far the best tank in terms of mitigation. Druids and Paladin tanks do well in terms of holding aggro on multi targets(paladins are best at this) but boss fights, unless there is a specific game mechanic that makes a warrior useless for the fight, I would personally always choose a warrior over any other tank class.

ever do hyjal without a pally? i haven't. admittedly i've only been in there 5 or 6 times, but i couldn't imagine doing the trash without a pally.
i second the pally in kara. i've never been able to clear it under 4 hours witha BaRE or warrior, but it's 3:45 or faster with a pally every time. noone tanks multiple mobs like a pally.

Im not sure how yall say that a warrior only goes for 1 target tank. Not true ive been able to tank 3 people on a heroic Shattered Hall and not a single scratch got on anyone in the 7 man pull. Its easy for a warrior to tank muti-targets but it is alot easier by a pally i would say... Warriors like me have to have some skill.

Pally tanks are great for everything up to end-game raiding. Than you need a dedicated warrior tank.

I think a pally can do more aggro than a warrior(if its needed), just change the gear to more spelldmg, ofc he will get more dmg too in spelldmg gear

Paladin for aoe tanking indeed, but when it comes to a long fight warrior is defenitly better with his agro and no mana.

Paladins are exceptional at AoE tanking. Having done MH a lot, it's a lot harder without a paladin. You'll end up slithing your wrists if your warrior/druid tanks aren't capable of tanking 3+ mobs at the same time.
Paladins just generate threat faster, which makes it a lot easier. They're not really able to tank bosses, but for AoE they're very good.
Morogrim, all MH thrash and the better your guild gets the more you AoE in BT as well.

I prefer Warrior for single target mob ( or bosses) and Pally on multiple. A warrior simply cannot do the same when there's more than 2 mobs unCCd.
Try doing a Shattered Halls with a warrior and you'll understand what I mean.

ok its true wars have better abilities to tank with but they are limited in that, they are best for single target taking with no tricks involved and can last a long time like that but pallies have a ton of versitillity that wars dont have, they can aoe tank and build aggro way better on multiple targets etc. My guild uses a pally as a MT and we are doing kalecgos right now and every boss you can use a pally tank on before that we've used him on, some bosses have abilities preventing that or the pally might have something else to tank or do. As a healer and dps i preferr a pally tank over a war tank for the majority of the situations.

Definitely warrior. #1, their raid gear is more suited towards tanking, and #2, their talents are created to hold aggro. Simple decision

imo, it's all situational one which tank is better. Then again i would say druid just because i play one and have no problem tanking any end game encounters, even when told druids couldn't handle it..

im a fan of warrior tanks have been playing wow since day 1 and raiding since, a ton of damage mit. great ways to grab AoE mob aggro, shield wall is OP for enrages and they help the group with Battle shouts, commanding shouts, Druids are the next best tank IMO rather then pallys but im still more comfortable seeing a warrior with a sword and board

It depends what it is that they're tanking. All round I'd say warrior tanks were best, but paladin tanks excell in a number of places, such as heroic Magister's Terrace, paladin tanks are the best choice here.

combo is best, our mt is pally unless pallies cant tank something then its the ot war and then we have numerous druids that can dps and tank and an extra war for misc stuff

Paladins definately get my vote for the 5-man dungeons. Warriors I believe are superior in raid instances, aka 25-mans.
