I feel for ya gettin' scammed, but, 25k for a gamecard should have raised a red flag. If he was selling the plat through one of the major resellers he'd have gotten at best $0.75/k, which comes out to $18.75 USD. If he was selling it himself, even if he managed to find someone paying $1/k, which isn't likely, that's still only $25.00 USD. When the game cards sell for $39.99 USD, he's losing money. Even if he were to be just thinking of getting plat that way versus buying plat from a reseller at $0.80/k, he could have bought 25k for $20.00 USD. Even if he was the unlikely one to pay $1/k, he coulda got 25k for $25.00 USD.
All said and done, if the deal seems too good to be true, it usually is =/
