I get a lot of Beta Mails. Some are legit, some are just " Come try this out, we call it Beta, but anyone can play"

The most recent game I was emailed about and asked to play was
Sword of the New World.

The thing is there is no confirm code as far as i can tell, so i would assume it is an open Beta
The Beta letter looked nice though Razz

Well, the game is not too bad. Easy combat system, great music, nice graphics. 3.5gig DL for the file.

I was skeptical about the character movement, but i got used to it fairly fast. It is a lot of grind quests at 1st,but the grind is fast.
it's not another EQ/EQ2 or WoW, but i found it to be refreshing.
The music is terrific and it appears it has options to add music to the library as well as modify and create additional UI's. The game is what as known as a "Premium Service" game. This means the " BETA" will go live without a wipe if they have a large enough player base as happened with SilkRoad, Pirate Knights, Maple Story,9Dragons and a few others.

The thing about these games is if you get on early and level up you can bypass any need to ever actually purchase an item as new comers will trade purchased items for existing items.

The gear is level based, thank god. At levels 12,18,24,etc,etc you must purchase a skill book to advance to the next level range of abilities.
The character appearance is fairly nice as well. The movement was fairly well done and i did not have a stiff feeling while running about in the Dungeons. There is NO lack of quests so far and looking at the world map, they have the areas level based, it seems maybe level 130ish is maximum since i see a dungeon for chars level 110-127.

Will this hold a persons interests ? That is dependent on several factors.
Do you want to play with no fee and can you adjust to a new game that is not, over all, on par with the current games in relation to interface and movement.

On a rating scale of 1-10, i would seriously give it a 6. If the character movement interface allowed for mapping to allow the use of arrow keys then I would push it closer to 7.5
