|
|
|
When I first got my CPU, Athlon 2100+, I replaced the original fan and heatsink with an Antec fan/heatsink. The original fan was extremely loud and after replacing it with the Antec it made a big difference. It has slowly worked its way back to be extremely loud and annoying.
Can anyone recommend me a extrememly quiet, yet effective, fan?

Well yah, I know where to BUY stuff. I was asking for suggestions on a brand... something that isn't going to degrade over time.

All my case fans have been fine for a couple years now. Still quiet as ever. They're also Antec... don't understand why the CPU fan is always the one to go.

if you want absolutely ZERO noise with the best cooling available, go with Thermalright, if you want very little noise and excellent cooling, go with Thermaltake.

Let Professor Venkmen explain my young, un-educated friend. It is a matter of heat my dear boy. The CPU generates alot of heat, which in turn makes the moving parts (bearings) break down quicker.

Uhm Phluff, yeah you sell a lot of them to people that own P4's or A64's.. He has a Socket A.. Unless you know a way to fit the coolers you mentioned to a Socket A that I don't, this won't work for him.
You want cool and quiet, you go with Zalman Fairly cheap, good reviews, quiet.. http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproductdesc.asp?description=35-118-102&DEPA=0
On a side note.. My 90nm A64 just shipped today, can't wait to get it..
