Do you actually have to look at the book to be considered "medding", or will just sitting work? My druid is level 15. I remember a long time ago you had to actually stare at the book, but then I was hearing that after you got to like 40 you didn't have to anymore.

after 30 no more book medding
however
im not sure about this but I think with the addition of the new UI they eliminated the need to look at the book completely at all levels
check to see if your meditate skill goes up while sitting (and your not FM of course)

This was fixed with Luclin... when they were making the game easier for newbies... like when they added in the < lvl 10 corpse recovery stuff.. they eliminated the need to look at the book to med.

That whole book medding thing was one gigantic brainfart. What a lovely idea to implement in a graphic-intensive game. It's a wonder how EQ ever made it out of beta...

Haha 'tis true.
We're all guinea pigs. For what I haven't a clue, though.

the whole point of the book was to represent the meditation process. Undisturbed meditation, see nothing. Best they could get off of the D&D idea of having to sleep a full 8 hours to memorize and regain spells.

I got a lot of stuff done while medding. I think it's what helped me play EQ so much. I would put a load of laundry in, read a book, watch TV, go make a sandwich, smoke, etc. You just had to be luck and have no one train you.

Well, it's not like they took the skill out of the game.. the skill is still there, you still have to med.
You just don't have to look at the book while you do it.

My druid has the Warden Symbol of Tunare, so I get to repeatedly root the mob for free (and 10 pts. damage) and spend like 1/2 a blue on a kill! If I want to I can do it to multiple mobs. I wonder why they allow that.

I wanted to get that item (Warden Symbol) for my cleric... although at 56 it's kind of pointless now =(

lmao true, but at level 15 it only takes two dots and about 25 clicks to drop blue or white mobs!
