Today, a branch of the bank my wife works at was robbed around noon. NY State Troopers responded, and apparently engaged the suspects. A trooper was shot and killed.
The bank is near a pretty big interstate, so i figured the robbers would be long gone. Well they made it about 15 miles down route 86 and holed up in a s****y motel.
Well they got caught around 3:30 at said motel.
This is the 2nd time in a couple of years in this area that Troopers were killed in the line of duty.
SO f*****g stupid, you know youre going to get caught, and now you know youre gonna get the death penalty. If it were up to me those f*****s wouldnt even make it to the courthouse.

we've had 5-6 cops (maybe more, not sure on same count) killed out here in the California area in the last few months....
...mostly getting killed by drunk drivers - there have been a few shot in the line of duty though. I did hear about one recently who had pulled over a drunk driver and was testing said driver when another drunk driver (who was 4x times the legal limit) hit and killed the officer.
not exactly the same circumstances but wtf is up with officers dying?

why is it a surprise zerapheus? they know they are taking one of the most dangerous jobs available when they take the job. I mean, if you cant figure out why cops get shot more often than florists, well.. exposure, statistics, chance, possibility..

Adrenalin is addictive. The job is what it is. You go in while others run out. Except for canadian border guards, they run away too. I always had a great time doing some crazy shit. The shit you see actors doing for fake on TV and movies, we did for real.
Been to plenty of funerals too, 5 times more than anyone here no doubt. Even out of state ones when we got the chance.
3 for close friends, 7 for long term acquaintances, more than I can remember for ppl who I never met.
Car accidents, getting hit, cutting a femoral in a fight and bleeding out while people stuck their finger in his leg, shootings during B&B, no knock warrant executions, car stops that go s****y, falling off roofs, out windows, falling through a rotting floor into the lower room and continuing down into the basement while chasing a perp. Did that twice myself, what a hoot!, ya gotta love brownstones abandoned since the blackout in 1965. Yeah, plenty of things to kill you.
Its an excellent job if you are working in the right place with the right ppl, no matter how dangerous it is.
/salute Trooper Andrew Sperr.
God speed.
