on a related note, I know that Big O 2 starts..
the "second" half of the first season, if you will, or the flat out second season, which picks up at the end's "to be continued" part that they had no intention of continuing, until now. Tonite.

|
FLCL, also refered to as "Furikuri", is a recent [2000-2001] OAV series by GAINAX. The latter is extremely popular and mostly hailed for its widely known masterpiece Neon Genesis Evangelion.
The plot, if presented in a nutshell, would be something like this: Young boy leads a boring life. Older, quirky-insane female enters his life, whacks him over the head. This strategy causes more than only a robot to emerge out of his head throughout the series. "His" machines battle other strange machines who mysteriously appear with the blink of an eye. Enormously chaotic battles take place. Boy can work impossible things. Somehow a huge, powerful factory is involved in all of the insanity. Boy falls for girl, but in the end she only abuses him as a tool to achieve her own goals. Boy is rendered heartbroken, but will live on as their paths separate.
Even though the words "furikuri", kurikuri" and other versions are mentioned, yelled and "explained" more than once throughout the series, one can come to the conclusion that GAINAX are merely pulling a running-gag on their viewers. "Kurikuri" supposedly means something along the lines of "to fondle", but when asked about the term's meaning at the end of the show, Naota merely says he doesn't have any idea. The abbreviation stands for "Fooly Cooly", as stated by the series' director Kazuya Tsuramaki.

FLCL makes me cry, an RL friend had the series downloaded on his computer...I don't know that it will go over well with American audiences. It's really...odd...yeah odd...like ugh, yeah anyway scary stuff...

Anyway, the second episode of Fooly Cooly has affirmed my belief that it kicks ass.

Sadly, FLCL is only 6 episodes long.
But they made new episodes for Big O after they ran em out, so who knows

So I watched FLCL last nite. The funniest thing I saw: The kid got sucked into the one robot, to kick another robots's ass, which he did, but when the other robot "ejected" the kid from it's body, he pooped him out. Yes. Pooped. I died laughing..it was like he was pinched off, and covered in a film, and the girl near him said, "Ewww, you smell. Bad"
