the 8th season seems to be drowning....I know they set it for a 9th but they are slowly recasting it seems. RDA and SC are not going to be in all the eps and they brought 2 new cast members in this season..../shakes head....its sad...
and atlantis bites...

RDA will be in a guest star role basically and SC is taking time off to have a baby is all, so I think it'll be ok still. Season 8 I really have enjoyed, alot more personal level stuff going on rather than the save the earth thing. Nice change.

Remake actually Gald, they took the basic idea from the old series and changed a few things with the characters/plot. It's more inspired by the old one than trying to copy it. Anyways, it's a pretty good show for now but I don't really think it has the potential to go much beyond 3 seasons.
Atlantis is probally the best show Sci-Fi has now. It has the writers, it has a very large budget (even with SG1/SGA sharing the budget it's obvious it's getting a good 75%+ of it), it has a good cast, and it's getting crossovers to SG1 now with them happening more regularly next season.
SG1 is still good even after 8 seasons, I'm not sure how the 9th will be really with the change in cast (Carter replacement for 1/4 the season and RDA having less screentime than Hammond did in season  . Daniel/Teal'c will have to support alot of the season on their own basically, plus the budget problem will remain forcing them to focus more on characters than backing the stories up with effects. After finally downloading Reckoning part 1 tonight I have to wonder could they have even afforded to keep Anubis in his old form rather than have a human there or did those few zat shots this season drain most of the money from the non premier/finale episodes?

I still enjoy SG-1 and Atlantis, am very happy that the new season started like two weeks ago. Once again ever Friday I come home from hanging out and put the tape and watch the shows I missed while have a few drinks.
It's a great show and I am loving having them back on.

Torrents were out weeks and weeks ago, torrents are up to the last couple episodes (seriously the last one or two). Good stuff 
Check www.gateworld.net for a tv schedule though, you might catch the repeat.

Last nights Battlestar was pretty bad. The photography is starting to annoy me. Its like someone is following the characters around with a mini camcorder. Its shaky and scattered. Im sure its intentional but its starting to make my eyes hurt.
One more complaint. The use of the word Frack in place of f**k. This was ok maybe the first 2 times but they are saying Frack every 10 minutes now and its making me want to stop watching the series.
I watched the last half of Atlantis last night, some wraith thing was sucking the life from someone, then the guy turned all old and died. His makeup was horrid and looked stupid. Then there were some little glowie bugs that were intelligent and kept trying to eat everything. I dunno Im just not feeling this show yet but im gonna watch two more episodes from start to finish to see.

There's an episode of Atlantis called "Before I Sleep" that is really good, should be on in about 3 weeks or so, maybe 2. Letters from Pegasus is really good as well, a more human story.

Aside from the episode where he got his own apt I have found Teal'c to be a lackluster character lately, definetly my least favorite of the main 4.

The show wouldn't work without him. He's the Dr. Spock/Data character; Every sci-fi show has to have one of those to work. He's irreplacable.

The original Galactica took place amongst a "rag, tag, fugitive fleet" after the destruction of the 12 colonies, so does the new one. It is a remake (re-imagining), starting with the same premise but presumably diverging from there. So no Galactica '80.

I thought it was a good movie, but the series is 'blah.' At least it was when I tried watching it almost a decade ago. RDA never did it for me, sorry.
The new BSG is great, though. I didn't care for the miniseries (too slow, too much ****), but the actual series is top-notch!

Battlestar Galactica is a not a sequal it is a recreation/retelling inspired by the original BG They changed some minor things like **** and some major things like fact that the humans created the cylons.
In the miniseries it showed a model of the cylon that looked like the original series Cylons ..it was a homage to the original series nothing more.
And yes the series is much better then SG anything..the build up to the season finale was simply amazing.Mucho clifthangers for next season to resolve
