Ok I just finished Star Ocean: Till the End of Time. First let me say that DYING FROM MP LOSS IS THE MOST ANNOYING SHIT EVER.
The Ending:
What in the f**k. After defeating the final boss there was a 15 minute ending sequence. Then they had a credit sequence with a lovely Japanese song and some footage of the characters playing on the side. After the 5 minute song the credits ended.
THEN
IT KEPT f*****g GOING
It started showing each individual character and what they were going to do now that the problems of the world were resolved. So I watch about 10 minutes of it.......decide it's boring as all hell and get on my computer.
First I updated my collection list, then browsed around Realpoor, checked GameSpot.......the ending is still going...... ok, time for a shower. I go take a good 10-15 minute shower, come back.....the ending is still going..... I get dressed, fix my hair, brush my teeth, shave, put on deodorant..... the ending is still going....... I clean up my room and FINALLY I see "THE END".
I'm guessing the whole thing lasted about an hour or more. This completely ruined my entire view of the game. MP death sucked yeah, but the game was still decent. But now...... now it's a flaming pile of shit that I wouldn't recommend to anyone. f**k you Square.

Anywho, I still want to play it. I liked the second Star Ocean and things seem to get better with sequels with Square.

No they don't. I don't know of a single person who thought SO3 was better than 2.
It was flaming shit
Want proof? Zuldane played it. He hasn't picked a good game in the past 2 years.

Mugaaz is going to be a d**k no matter what you do, there's no changing it. Deal with it and realize you can like whatever your little heart desires without having to sink to the level of boorish video game elitism.
This on top of the fact that you bumped an ancient thread of his about said game. If it contained a funny retort, maybe, but it was just you saying something vapid, something completely unfunny.

Suikoden IV is a bit worse, it's just a lot shorter--fortunately
Hell, they might be on the same page. The VOs were awful, awful as sin, in both of them
Not to mention SO3 capitalized on every anime/video game given ever.
Xenosaga is just as bad as the both of them, though. The cinematics have a half-way decent visual flair, but the fact is I'd kill for XG:Disc 2 over this b******t anyday; a soliloquy delivered story--intriguing and with essence--is better than a studio-made production of one misplaced metaphor after another.

I don't understand how people think I'm THAT rude? I know I sure ain't polite online. But gimme a break, anytime I post my opinion on something I know as much if not more than 95-99% of the posters. I'f im replying to a thread about DDR, gaming, etc. You know I know about the subject. If I'm acting rudely to someone it's becuase they have absolutely no idea what they are talking about, and at the same time they are trying to act like they know something. I've been friends with Zuld for years. He's a great guy, but man he picks games like shit.
There is really only 2 reasons to play games.
A) Fun
B) Competition.
B is easy to define, and most peoples opinion of what it is and should be, and how a game rates on it differ very little.
A is all about personal like, good fundamentals, and a good twist.
Xenosage/SO3 is an RPG. Not an easy to revolutionize, so the fundamentals are most important. Both games have horribly slow stories that are completely meaningless angst-fests. Their combat systems added nothing (SO3 exception to new players who havent played 1/2 or Tales games) , their twists are old and have nothing new to offer. THE CHARACTERS ARE WORTHLESS. Does ANYONE sit down with an rpg where the main character is an angsty, scrawny, shy teen and be like: f**k YA THIS GUY IS AWESOME? What happened to cool characters like sephiroth, dante, cecil, kain, auron, Kratos, The Nameless, Adult link, etc?
It's like people gut tired of macho and traded it in for douche.
Voice acting, Cut scenes, FMV's, etc are all great but all they are when you come down to it is production values. THey make a good game better, they make a bad game playable. They don't make a bad game good.
Maybe I've just played too many games. But RPGs have become more cookie cutter. What happened to top down & sideway scrolling action rpgs?
Their are still good rpgs out there. KOTOR2, Vampire, and Tales most recently.
If I see another completely meaningless rpg wihich touts its 40+ hours of cinema and 50+ hours of dialogue as a reason its good I'm going to puke.
