Next year it's going to start earlier and last longer:
DST commonly begins in the northern hemisphere on either the first Sunday in April or the last Sunday in March, and ends on the last Sunday in October. However, beginning in 2007, the United States will begin observing DST on the second Sunday of March until the first Sunday in November, but if no energy savings can be shown from the extension after the U.S. Department of Energy completes a study of impact of the change, Congress may revert back to the schedule set in 1986 under Section 110 of the Energy Policy Act of 2005. Since 2002, the European Union has fixed the last Sunday in March and the last Sunday in October as start and end dates (European Summer Time).

yeah just read today Indiana finally adopted it, leaving only New Mexico without. Imagine living in a border state and having your work time affected by that, would be weird.

Hoosier speaking! This is going to be like the Y2K virus, only just for the state of Indiana. My wife and mother-in-law had a 10 minute conversation about when to meet the grandmother-in-law, according to their clocks, assuming that grandmother in law won't change her clocks, but expects them at 1pm.
Also, keep in mind, I've heard 1 radio spot and 1 mention of it on the news. Total. Tomorrow will be a f*****g fiasco in Indiana, I guarantee it. I wish we'd have never changed, and you guys will never understand how nice it is until you live somewhere that doesn't do it.

Having moved just recently from Chicago to Indianapolis, I cant believe how worked up people are here about DST. Hoosiers act like thier clocks are going to stop working or something.

I think the point most people in Indiana have (and it's valid) is that it's vitually unneccessary. Sure, it makes it so the sun goes down an hour later, so you get more time in the summer to do outdoor activities, and during energy crises, I can see using it to save energy, but there's plenty of coal to turn into electricity last I checked, and I've never sat down and said, "Damn! If only the sun went down at 9:30 instead of 8:30! I'd have an extra hour to toss a frisbee!" In exchange for this virtually unneccessary hour, you throw off everyone's sleep schedule for a few days, people are late/early to work the first day, and you have to change every clock in your house twice per year (I have 11 in my house that don't automatically change).
I would say, the reason people are so worked up about it is because it's such a damn annoyance. You don't realize it because you've never had a time where you didn't have to worry about it. If every shoe you ever bought had a small rock in it, you'd think that's just how it is, and you'd eventually ignore the little rock. For those of us in Indiana, it's like we've been walking around pebble free, only to discover that tomorrow, we have to start walking around with a rock in our shoes.

Yeah Hawaii doesnt also but i didnt consider them because they are not lower 48 and therefore dont have border issues like Indiana and New Mexico did.
