So how about that Terri Schiavo thing? Any apologies forthcoming I wonder?
How about Bill Frist, surgeon and senator, who publicly made a neurological diagnosis on the basis of viewing a video tape, that she responded to visual stimuli? How will he explain that, since the autopsy proves she was blind? I wonder if he's as irresponsible a senator as he is a doctor.

Actually that was a gratuitous facetious/sarcastic remark. This is RP after all. But your rationalization is the same kind of thing alot of "liberals" could say about a topic they are passionate/sensitive and then in an effort to invalidate and trivialize it, someone calls them a bleeding heart.
There is always a rationalization for why people feel a certain way, liberal or conservative. The bleeding heart moniker just seems to be one of the favorite things for conservatives to call the liberals when they disagree.
So it is very interesting that you would reply this way.
I have to wonder if it is technically possible to be an adulterer to a brain dead body on artificial life support with no hope for recovery (per the doctors prognosis)?
The parents seemed to be a bit removed from reality in general, so I am not feeling badly that their opinions had no bearing. They accused the husband of one thing after another, some of which were proven wrong in the autopsy as well as claiming this brain dead body was trying to speak after the tubes were removed.
As far as I am concerned, the right thing was done and the aftermath will be new laws put in place to make it harder for anyone to let their family members go when the situation calls for it.

Scumbag, all democrats should be gassed.
I like how you turn this into an attempted shot at the republicans. When its really about different opinions on how to die, or not to die.
I would side with repubs and religious ppl, even though I'm way non religious, over the dems and the durbins any day of the week.
This is your party, you scumbag. You all need to die.

On one occasion, the air conditioning had been turned down so far and the temperature was so cold in the room, that the barefooted detainee was shaking with cold. . . . On another occasion, the [air conditioner] had been turned off, making the temperature in the unventilated room well over 100 degrees. The detainee was almost unconscious on the floor, with a pile of hair next to him. He had apparently been literally pulling his hair out throughout the night. On another occasion, not only was the temperature unbearably hot, but extremely loud rap music was being played in the room, and had been since the day before, with the detainee chained hand and foot in the fetal position on the tile floor. If I read this to you and did not tell you that it was an FBI agent describing what Americans had done to prisoners in their control, you would most certainly believe this must have been done by Nazis, Soviets in their gulags, or some mad regime—Pol Pot or others—that had no concern for human beings. Sadly, that is not the case. This was the action of Americans in the treatment of their prisoners. |
Durbin is a f*****g moron. He can't even figure out that you have to turn the air conditioning UP to get the temperature to go DOWN when you are conditioning HOT AIR.
No wonder the Bears still suck.
And quite honestly, none of what happened in the Schiavo fiasco is any of my f*****g business. I don't need to know what went on in that family over her unfortunately prone body. I don't need to know if her husband is a c**k and her parents are insane with their adoration of her motionless figure.
What I do know is that laws were bent by our current Administration based on their personal views, and that I absolutely will not get on board with. I will not get on board with an administration that takes years to make simplistic decisions on contraversial points, but only hours to completely change the way civil legal cases are decided by federal judges. Does this not strike anyone else as shocking, or is this simply such a predictable Bush action that we've become desensitized to it, almost expecting something profoundly handicapped to happen on a daily basis?
The Republican majority needs to make absolutely sure they are doing what is best for this country before making any wild decisions at the whim of a tearful testimonial, especially in a situation so personal that doesn't concern the nation whatsoever.
