What can you put into a barrel that makes it weigh less?

Nope. The barrel itself would still weigh the same as it did prior to you putting the helium balloons into it.

The question isn't specific enough, and technically helium balloons would make the barrel 'weigh less.'
It's common to flute a rifle barrel to make it weigh less, so 'ridges' is also an acceptable answer (could flute a wooden barrel too I suppose).
And if asked 'what can you put in a barrel to make it lighter,' torches, light bulbs, etc. are all acceptable.
Kind of a shoddy riddle if you ask me.
