Are you all sticking with PVP or are a few of you playing on the normal servers and are you guys sticking with horde or going alliance? If I play I was looking at Tauren for horde or night elf for alliance, I can't decide on the class because I haven't had a chance to try out beta :p H8 for Drew.

Hating on me. Not nice!
I think we've pretty much landed on PvP alliance for release, but that's still not in stone yet. Willis HAS to be his dwarf, so who knows.

I'd like to go carebare with a mage to be able to find out where the good drops are without getting molested then take that knowledge and go pvp with a warrior.

if they really work out PVP in beta this could be pretty cool
i read over the beta website with info for the game and it looks like nearly exactly the same thing as everquest .. but pvp could be an interesting twist
its still not a game that has pvp as a huge part, with game mechanics being designed around it .. but an interesting twist nonetheless

Prolly go normal server horde... I have a feeling the pvp server is going to be lineage II all over again. Expect more than your share of kekeke peekay u lol! Plus I just like the Orc/tauren lands a lot better.

I wonder if they'll have a pvp/rp server =P. One thing i really liked about percival in daoc was there was no one named Assmunky runin around or some lame shit like that.
PvP in WoW so far sounds exactly like pvp in daoc except some minor details.

i hope WC3 pvp isnt like DAOC ... daoc was just raiding ... large .. large scale pvp ..
if it could be more like .. there are a lot of yellow areas and you just often get in situations where you fight with one another it could be fun
the thing i loved about UO pvp was that there would be a group of PKs and then noob1 would run out and be like "PKS, AT THE OUTPOST .. PRITHEE MILORD .. HELP US!" and then you and your friends would go beat them into submission
UO pvp did allow for PVP everywhere with everyone .. but it was rare that people would run around ganking total noobs (at least, not without interference from the anti-pk squad) .. there were a lot of options in UO to escape pks too ... teleporting with runes .. hiding .. everyone could do that stuff .. so PVP was widespread to everyone but it wasnt like the second you see someone obviously more powerful than you its all over
back in the day UO was all chaotic and fun .. all these new games are like "play nice! be good! no fighting with fellow gamers!" ... but a world that runs itself with PVP (not one with a bunch of assinine restrictions on PVP) is just more fun.. as long as its implemented right to start with ..

"UO pvp did allow for PVP everywhere with everyone .. but it was rare that people would run around ganking total noobs "
Wow, you must not have ever tried to do anything in that game except pvp. If pvp was your goal that game was fun. As for your "rare for people to gank total noobs" you are completely wrong.
I wanted to try playing certain types of characters and was pretty much a "noob" by current standards and the never-ending ganking that I received by 0wnYou PKs forced me into the typical UO role: pvper.
You should have tried to be a miner blacksmith in those days, or just be working on building up your money by hunting the local dungeons. Nothing but PK gank squads running around like clockwork cleaning the dungeons out, and the solo-duo gank squads that would constantly kill miners just to cut up their bodies and taunt them.
Eventually I fell into the "anti-pk" group but only because the options were: pk or anti-pk in UO.

The only thing about PVP in most games is that it gets the testosterone flying back and forth and everyone becomes all immature and bothersome. That's why I wasn't too sure on the pvp aspect of the game, but if you guys all go PVP and I get it, I'll go with the night elf hunter like everyone else and their mom since I hear druids are sucking hardcore.

I played alt chars a lot .. mining / blacksmithing .. i never got ganked not even once ... i played around the britain area .. usually near my house or the mining cave to the north .. i did run into PKs once or twice but i knew how to get away from them
now if you played in some outpost or low level dungeon thats different .. they come often .. but still, all you have to do is either hide or teleport away .. its not like your totally screwed if you run into PKs .. if you know what your doing you have a good chance of escape .. and usually people end up fighting the PKs anyway (or i end up teleporting to my house and getting out my awesome char and destroying them)

Well you are not proving they didn't gank total noobs cuz you didn't get ganked. If you learned to always be able to teleport out or hide you weren't a noob =P.
Once I got my blazing fast 400mhz with the top of the line couldn't be beat tnt2 on a cable connection i don't think I ever died again. But when that game released dialup was the norm, and most people had standard issue vid cards on a P1 166-266.
Anyhow, from what I saw of your post your complaint was mostly about the huge raids that occurred at walls, gates, and forts. It doesn't look like WoW has those. Most of my pvp fun was not at those because my comp couldn't handle em. So there was a lot of gank squads going on.

fun stuff
and yeah, who cares about total noobs =p
certainly you can make the noob areas safe .. or make like, anyone below lvl 10 safe or something .. but to have insane restrictions like only people 5 levels above/below you and that sort of thing it just defeats the purpose of having pvp .. and if anything just makes it more stressful where you cant kill the b*****d whos being an a*****e

thinking about it UO was really a good game (save for the bugs and s****y CS) ..
it was way, way more dynamic than all its predecessors .. you could fight PvE .. PvP .. you could spar up skills with friends .. you could do tradeskills .. you could make / furnish a house / guild / vendor .. you could tame big animals .. explore around places where you didnt see people for miles .. or walk around places where there were lots of people .. help people out (where you could actually become friends with people for helping them out, none of this "buff me plz" "clarity plz" "rez plz" "kthxbye")
i cant think of any game that comes anywhere close to all the different things you could do in UO

or you could just stay in the city because if you tried to leave at level 1 you got insta ganked by the pack of wolves at the border.
UO probably would have stayed on my hdd longer than a week if I had started day one, starting a year or two later was pointless.

i seriously never, ever had that problem
you usually dont have to venture very far from the guards as a noob .. and even if you do get ganked its not like you lose anything

So Ash, does that mean you're going to play WoW now? ^^
I'll probably stick with my Gnome War in Release. PvP most likely depending on how they're going to balance it.
Right now I'm just playing on the Carebear server since PvP is so broken and the Horde has no chance at all =/
Either way, I don't see PvP working too well in release. Its not exactly your 1 on 1 kind of fight. Its more like 30x Lv. 50 Alliance killing a bunch of newbies.

horde's doing just fine pots. only difference really is horde has shm, alliance has pally.
Unless yer talking about how horde used to have undead god mode and had to rely on it too much and cant play now
