I've always been a fan of Blastin's attitude in-game. Very upbeat and eager to help out.
However his name does indeed suck. I just couldn't bring myself to make a rogue named Bakstabuur or Spinetingler or ... well, now that I think about it - any verb. Naming your character after a spell, an ability or a weapon isn't role-playing. It's like getting a vanity plate on your 1986 Chevy Cavalier reading "CYAL8R". It's tacky and annoying. The cute factor wears off after about level 2.
I'm not trying to flame you Blastin. Were you being sarcastic when you asked, "Would an idiot be able to think of the name blastin for a wizard?" The answer is a resounding "Yes." In fact, names like Blastin, Burnin, Manaburn and Manaburning are the first names idiots go for.
Why do you think there are so many variations on "Legolas" and "Drizzt"? Because it's the first and most obvious name to pick out.
"Hm... a peaceful dwarf who heals people but can fight the undead really well.. hm... how about Holyforge? I mean .. he's holy. And dwarves use the forge a lot!" *... 15 seconds later...* "AW MAN! TAKEN! Well, maybe Hollyyforrge."
