holy shit man. so i'm at work and a Bad Beat happens. poor b*****d has 4 jacks and LOSES. yeah, his best friend sitting two seats to his left is holding 4 aces.
anyhow, the 8 people at the table got $849 each. the winner got $6800 and loser got $13,600.
everyone at the table was feeling good about themselves even when the winner got his $6600. but when they put down a full rack of black ($100 chips) totally $10,000 and then starting counting out the losers second rack of chips they were kinda sickened. in a happy way.

Unless the BBJ is absurdly large playing at a BBJ tables is -EV. Even the bad players who are attracted by it rarely can make up for the added rake.

i work at Prairie Meadows racetrack and casino. its like the only 'not for profit' casino in the country. all the money we make ends up going back to organizations within the state. most of which are in this county.
the guy with 4 jacks LOST.....to 4 aces.
it happened on a 15/30 texas hold'em table.

15/30+ games the extra $1 for the jackpot doesnt add up to -EV if the JP is over $10k
NL and PL the JP doesnt add up imho due to the added EV you can get off others making serious mistakes.
I play Party's BB 15/30 when its over $300k otherwise I just play at empire for the rakeback.

The only reason the stakes you're playing at matter is if the BBJ will bring a worse than average player to that table hence making their mistakes more expensive.
If you don't consider that then the stakes don't matter. It's just the size of the BBJ in relation the the added rake.
